Aye! Was that 'american'? In 'american' you would say,
"Yo, I was so f**ked up my big ass man tits was squirting beer, no shit."

You cant depend on a lot of things

Enough already.
Short useless reviews, page two:
Pheeleep - Dreaming
Dreamy, complex tune. I like this a lot, so I only have details to point at. Everything sounds awesome, no wonder you had fun doing it. I like the vibe here, although I think the 909 hand clap might be a tad cheesey for it.
If I don't go tired of the simplistic drum track by the end of June, this might very well make my short list. Good job.
Ixox - The road to a 25,000,000$ deal...
...Is probably not paved with those strings, do you think? I'm as distraught as anyone about the state of record companies today, but I know one thing, they don't gamble anymore. Frank Zappa would have stayed unsigned if he'd shopped around for a deal these days... This work has a playful cheeky feel to it, with a cute melody underneath what builds up to a ridiculous frenzy towards the end. Probably more soundtrack material than blockbuster hit, but hey, major labels do soundtracks, so why not? It grows on you, people. Don't give up on this one.
WoJ - 8
I really really like this, but I find myself waiting for vocals.
Cool breakdown. I think you could have made more of the build-up to the climax at 1:20, but othe than that I think this is a great piece of guitar music. Shades of the Edge in there, as well... Cool.
Beardedone - It's a deal
Another Frank Zappa synclavier piece? I really like this stuff, but what label are you courting? Beutiful sounds, gorgeous drums, lovely harmonies and a quirky melody that grows on you. The ending sounds a little accidental.
System ERA - Lite this shit
I liked this the first time I heard it, and I think I left some notes at the auditorium... I'm very impressed that you've just started doing this stuff. You're a natural. The two minute edit works as well. One of my favourites, even though I'm not really a hiphop man.
M'Snah - Popstar
Serenely surreal. Deliciously ridiculous. The doo-wop gospel choir over the very groovy bass with the accompanying glockenspiel is unparallelled in home grown pop, and the church organ wraps it up *just* before the 2 minute mark, doesn't it
Great. Shortlisted.
Scamme - ObviousJunetic
Hm. If the drums werent this organic, and the lead wasn't this piercing, this would have been close to Joy Division. I liked it, but it's a little happy for the style, something the guitar strums emphasize. But it's a nice song. I will shortlist it for now. If it grows on me after a few more times, who knows...
RichieBee - Eighties
The mix is weird in my headphones. I don't know where I would begin to fix it. You certainly have ALL the eighties sounds in there, so it's probably not too easy to keep track... Fun, but that's about it for me. I don't miss the eighties much anyway
And that fadeout?
Katanaman - Open letter
High energy punk there, mate... Short and sweet. All your cymbals sound like they're breaking glass.
Mono? Not the most elegant mix, but that's intentional, right?
Are you mocking the theme? I sense you're being insincere
DanSad - Stop
Not a direct link. We're adamant about the rules this month.
Find a better place to host your song.
That said, it's a song that might do well this month, poppy and well produced (although I'm sure you sing well enough to drop the autotuner), and I'll be happy to review it if you move it
Grotman - 070605
Something wrong with the naming I think.
Cute little ditty about catching z's. Cool snores. Are they yours?
The guitar reminded me of Johnny Guitar Watson for some reason.
Cool. Now I'll have to find that album. Oh damn. I sold all my vinyl years ago. Oh well.
Not much more to say about this, though. Good snoring, cool guitar.
Techbot - Copyright this!
I don't recognize all the songs in this mashup, but I think you're in for 10 to life with this one. Are all the major labels represented?
It seems to be just a string of songs to me, though. I don't know if I can be bothered listening enough to find the structure and flow you claim is there
Fun, but that's all. Lot of work?
Remco - Future Bride
Another top class song from you. You're sailing up as one of the major KvR singers, that's for sure. Sweet song. Hopeful through the sarcasm... I like your approach to the pop song. Strong melodies and good singing first, then you can fill that with as much or little as you need. I always make a song and then think hm.. maybe I should sing - and then there's never room for it. This flows around your voice and works very well. I predict another high placement for you, Remco.
Ziokiller (Guido something)- Noisy Town
Top production, excellent propulsion, trip hoppy laid back deliciously urban stuff. Love the wah wah on the rhodes or whatever it is. This just sounds s-w-e-e-t in headphones. Great track. I'd sign you, and sell your songs off to chill out compilations. Gotta hear it again...
Plunge - Tabasco
Wish the kick was bigger and badder, otherwise that's a kick ass opening. Back alley ultra cool laid back tune there, with hints of both Booker T and John Lurie. Now I want a whisky. Make it a double. Now I really regret selling my double bass...
That all of you?
I think so.

I'm trying to decide what I should reply with... should I thank you for listening or kill you for discovering I'm not being sincere?Hovmod wrote:Katanaman - Open letter

Yes, the gorilla mix was intentional. How else would my punk singer impression work properly?
By the way, this is not COMPLETE mockery of the theme. I mean, if I want a deal, begging is pretty much the best way to get one, right?
Ok, after careful consideration I decided to thank you for listening

Hi Hovmod,
Thank you so much for your comments...
I'll reconsider the cheesy clap sound and will experiment with BFD to try to make the drums a bit more complex.. I don't want any disapointments whatsoever with this one.. but hmmm.. actually, now that I think about it, I should be getting GURU soon so I think that will definitely do the trick.. I don't want any boring parts, so thanks for letting me know the drum part is a bit boring
I think I am going to make this one longer in the future and maybe even put it on my first album..
Thanks for the feedback.

Crikey - leave the forum for a few hours, and look what happens - 10 pages of slagging off. You™ wrote:grotman, I think you may have missed the point. slartibartfast wasn't slagging Audioshots, he was just pointing out that he didn't feel like signing up for any more online services than he absolutely needs. I agree. I pay for my web access and presence so I plan to use it as much as possible. I've registered with so many websites, I can hardly keep track of all the logins, passwords and terms. It's not a matter of how free or how safe it is; it's just not what I need right now. I have barely enough time to keep up with what little of KvR I manage to visit, let alone another online music forum. I'll bet slartibartfast feels similar.grotman wrote:...audioshots is a great service totally anything but useless, excellent place to check out hordes of tunes, beta fx basically the same and more musos from kvr than you can shake yer cloven hoofs at, it even looks similar. No Spam ever no privacy risk nada just a good site, that until now or just recently was a perfectly reasonable source to host tunes for a kvr contest, i wasn't actually in the know that this had changed so i reckon that rates the entry as kosha....
FWIW, The rulez are pretty clear about direct linking: "your track MUST be ... entered into the contest by posting a DIRECT link in this RULES & SUBMISIONS thread". Because some online service changes their terms midway through a competition doesn't affect these rulez. Besides, I'll be happy to host your track (or any other contestant's track) for the month if you need it. Just PM me.
You™ is right on the money. I have no bone to pick with Audioshots at all - I am sure that it has much to offer, but I find that I am getting more information than I can effectively use from KVR as it is. There is another thread running on this site that is discussing "I never seem to accomplish anything!! Why!?". I figure that one of the reasons why I am less effective than I could be is that it is way too easy to spend all your time participating in every music forum that exists, downloading a miriad of plugs and patches and then "playing around" with them - all of which is a little like pissing in a wetsuit - it gives you a nice warm comfortable feeling, but doesn't actually produce a visible outcome. So for me, for now, it is KVR only (and occasionally PatchArena

The ending was actually quite laboured over in terms of it's timing and sound. So, I guess it's a good thing that it sounds spontaneous.
Cheers,

Thanks for the review, Hovmod. I regret mixing it with headphones and posting before I could listen through speakers late last night. Also regret posting without any real melody. But figured if I didn't do it then, I may not post a song this month. Thanks for listening and for the feedback.Hovmod wrote:Enough already.
