Does the letter that you send with your Demo CD matter?

Ello :)

As subject title; Does the letter you enclose with your demo cd to a record label matter much?

Obviously not a "Yo check dis record out boyyyys" approach, but would a general, little bit about yourself, professional-ish letter kinda like a cover letter you'd send for a job application be worth it?

Or is it best to be brief?


Just any feedback/ideas you guys/gals have on the matter, or from your own experience of sending demo's out...

Just to say how you'd like to work with the label, release history perhaps, plus a couple of choice reviews, and CD tracklist. You don't need to include a bio really I wouldn't say, unless it's especially riveting or unusual. Thats it - brief and professional I reckon.

most people have a bio that they send.

It would include any press, photos, interesting hobbies, pets, phobias, venereal diseases, etc...
