Mate! Boy your mixing has radically improved lately! Really clean and full of sunshine! Love the intro and then the fall into the pop dance beat. I'd like to hear the bongos up in gain a tad, but a very good spread in the mix otherwise. (That your daughter there?) I lkie it very much mate!

No not my daughter, but Rephrased Natural Voices (just like the 2nd voice in the sung loops). My daughter isn't completely ready for being recorded, she's 10, so she wants to, but then she's in front of the mic and then she doesn't want to ... etc.
Thanks for the mixing compliment. I haven't even tried playing with EQ yet, just panning everything into it's on place. And paying a lot more attention to 32bit -> 16bit mp3 conversion...
The bongos/congas: I had them louder at first, but the loop also contained some of the musicians talking

I hear ya on the 32 to 16 bit conversion. There's a lot to learn there with dithering as well. For me, it has taken a lot more study but even so, I wish there was a button that said: "Publish"

hey your doughter is 10 to ! she can start a girl band with my doughter! my doughter always complains about me and my music. I like to listen to jazz. Which happens to be the only music my doughter dislikes to the bone, well at least i managed to convince her singing 20 notes in one sentence like you hear in rnb is grossly theatrical, especially when you write the notes in the sky with your forefinger
so now i make her listen to astrud Gilberto to give her a sense of what singing dry notes without frazing sounds like, after all you can only play with pitch if you have a clear sense of tone and only play with "offbeat" if you have a clear sense of "beat"

Cool guys i was a tad over the line and i guess a little rude (Uni course and understanding bloody transistors with a teacher who can't speak english properly doing my head in) I apologise Slart . Nothin meant by it. Seriously tho i just entered it for a joke and won't bother direct linking it, was just a wired acid filled night where i chucked a mic under my flatmates bellowing nose while he was asleep and added my best 70's porn theme underneath and randomly pitchshifted his snore, and still find it funny evry time i listen to it. So once again i apologise Slart nothin meant by it....You™ wrote:grotman, I think you may have missed the point. slartibartfast wasn't slagging Audioshots, he was just pointing out that he didn't feel like signing up for any more online services than he absolutely needs. I agree. I pay for my web access and presence so I plan to use it as much as possible. I've registered with so many websites, I can hardly keep track of all the logins, passwords and terms. It's not a matter of how free or how safe it is; it's just not what I need right now. I have barely enough time to keep up with what little of KvR I manage to visit, let alone another online music forum. I'll bet slartibartfast feels similar.grotman wrote:...audioshots is a great service totally anything but useless, excellent place to check out hordes of tunes, beta fx basically the same and more musos from kvr than you can shake yer cloven hoofs at, it even looks similar. No Spam ever no privacy risk nada just a good site, that until now or just recently was a perfectly reasonable source to host tunes for a kvr contest, i wasn't actually in the know that this had changed so i reckon that rates the entry as kosha....
FWIW, The rulez are pretty clear about direct linking: "your track MUST be ... entered into the contest by posting a DIRECT link in this RULES & SUBMISIONS thread". Because some online service changes their terms midway through a competition doesn't affect these rulez. Besides, I'll be happy to host your track (or any other contestant's track) for the month if you need it. Just PM me.
And Lady J well well well...
you just made my day. what a beautiful lady.. I'll listen to the song later.

And before you ask: Yes, in addition to this months theme, she inspired me to this song.

the thing with 4'33'' is that during a performance, there's always different noises, coughs, breaths, a child who cries, the life in action. Moreover, there is a silent relation between the pianist and the crowd. The crowd may react in some way to the situation.
i think Cage was requesting the crowd to "listen" to that particular reality. i'm not sure a "blank" mp3 is in a position to renew the whole experience, tho. it's really a performance, it needs the presence of the pianist and of a crowd, stopped for 4'33'' of "silence"... a kind of communion thing, if i dare...

Thanks much for your nice comments, xander....xander wrote:AndreasE - Melrock:
There is a consistancy in AndreasE's tracks that I like. In fact. they sound completely balanced in that I can take all his tracks direct to a CD without any normalizing. Thoughtful and evocotive tunes, as usual. This one sounds like an intro to 'Evil Dead' - The Game.
I must confess that I just wanted to remove my entry from the submission page because of all the annoying gossip of and about Lady J. But your nice words have kept me from doing this.
