Problem with Twang Combo demo - no sound!

Earlier tonight, I downloaded NI's Twang Combo demo. I was hoping I could use it with sfz and the Ultimate Guitar Kit soundfont. Even though the NI demo is showing up in my VST effects folder, I can't get any sound at all. Other programs like Amplitube and Guitar Suite work just fine with sfz. What's puzzling is that some KVR folks have been able to use this same soundfont with NI's Guitar Rig.

Is the lack of sound because Twang Combo doesn't come with a DI Box and Guitar Rig does?
