No bluescreen here on XP, just a freeze then automatic restart. But my machines takes all of 7 seconds to reboot, so it ain't that bad

If someone was foolish enough to try it without saving the song they were working on at the time, otoh.....

No it won't because they will have no increase is FSB bandwidth, unlike the Athlon64 X2 dual-core chips. So Apple can switch to Intel and still be left in the dust on price/performance by the noticably better AMD line of processors.

You're obviously an editor. Motion is a toy designed for editors, it is in no way a serious compositing application. FCP OTOH, has raised the bar for desktop editing but is still very much an entry-level tool. Clearly Apple hoped to repeat teh success of FCP in buying Logic and Shake but they seem to have failed because they pissed to many people off by killing the Windows version.

Link is just a stretched image on my machine, no reboot/crash (windows xp, opera).

Although "spyware" is not a whole sentance I'll try to respond to what I think you meant, I think it comes back to the point about ignorance, any "professional" should take measures to protect their security and work (and client's data etc.) regardless of the platform they run.

The true "professional" will choose the best non-limiting tools for the task at hand, fear of spyware may be a great FUD tool for marketing but it shouldn't be high on the list of priorities when selecting such "professional" tools.

I'm glad to hear the link works fine on non-microsoft browsers (works fine on the mac IE btw)
Although I agree with you that every "professional" should shield themselves with virus software, you hear it all the time that new viruses, worms, email attachments, jpg's, somehow leak through. I haven't heard anything like that on the mac yet (I'm sure, they exist, just on a much smaller scale)

Isn't it funny how... for years the 'so elite' Maccy's have been going on about their superior chips (which they paid double for) & now even their own messiah has finally admitted they're shit!

I'm not sure Apple's chief reason for buying Logic was in fact Logic. Honestly the new version is slick, but it seems to me the real reason for buying Logic, wasn't to expand their user base of Pro DAW users by forcing PC/Logic owners to switch, but rather to entice the new users with free apps like garageband. In that way it's worked out great for them.

well, for whatever reason they did it, it worked because i just made the switch to logic pro7 (too bad my new computer hasn't arrived yet, it's taken more than a week and a half but that's alright). I'm lookin forward to logic 7 and I hope this whole switch to intel chips in future macs doesn't cause me any problems when i upgrade my system in another 3 years or so.

Since when is GarageBand free? Its bundled and that's a whole nuther thing.
A guy I know bought a MacMini late last year and got right into GarageBand for a while. I aske dhim how it was going last week and he said he hasn't switched the MacMini on in months and he feels like a victim of Apple's hype. I love it when I can say I told you so.

That's the point isn't it? It's not free, you buy a computer, and it comes with the iLife crap. Thought I didn't have to hold your hand to see the point I was making.
I'm not interested in debating whether Garageband is a hunk of shit or not, it's an entry level app, doesn't matter.
At this point I'm more interested in applications in general, and Live 4 is cross platform, if Apple caves tomorrow I'll still be using Live 4.

Your friend is stupid. I would never buy anything because of hype. When I got into sequencing it was with Digital Performer, had I been more comfortable on Sonar, it would have been a PC. When I switched to Logic, I stayed on mac because of Pluggo, now that Pluggo is on PC and I'm using Live more, I have thought about it, but my next hardware purchase will be a laptop, and when that happens the Intel powerbooks will be here. Logic still has a place for me. It couldn't have been pointed out more succinctly how vulnerable XP is with the earlier post of a small script that froze up peeps PC's. You simply cannot do that to OSX.

Apple ditches IBM power PC chip and will use Intel.
