Hey all I just dusted of the CM101 again a few days ago when I had to do some tweaking to an old song of mine that used it, then just wound up playing with it and it made me think of Positron. Anyword on a release date and/or feature list? Also will Electron drop in price as Positron is released, or will Positron be considerably more expensive?

Now that the CM plugins are out of the way we're working like dogs on our own stuff at last

However, the unfortunate thing about Positron is that a) still needs a lot of work and b) all the other products need a lot of work to then make the product range still coherent.

I would have said therefore that it won't be until spring next year.

What's likely to happen (and nothing is set in stone BTW) is that Atom and Atom Pro will disappear completely in their current form, but will come back as a completely new product still bearing the Atom name. Electron too will receive a major update and will still occupy the top end of the product range. Positron will sit somewhere in the middle. Tau gets an update too to improve the accuracy of the 303 emulation, but Tau Pro may, or may not, it hasn't been decided.

As for pricing, now there's a point. We haven't significantly raised our prices in more than two years and I believe times have moved on. VSTi's are becoming significantly more complex and difficult to develop, especially to the standards that we laid down in the beginning. We will have to take views on it when the time comes.

Yes, absolutely. There will be a minor Tau Pro and Electron update very shortly, followed by the long-promised major update in the New Year.

For the time being, all updates will be free for registered users.

I don't know if this will change in the future, but for now rest assured that both the minor updates (which don't add any new features except for pitchbend on Tau Pro) and the major updates (which will add lots of features to Atom Pro and Electron) will all be free.

The graphics for Neutron are now all done, we're just finalising some of the remaining code. I think Christmas is going to get in the way of a lot of our plans though

Right now we're working full-time on a website relaunch so watch out for an announcement shortly.

Muon Software only has two main people (myself and our administrator, Marilia). We also have someone who handles company/legal stuff (Derek) on an occasional basis and we bring in artists for specific projects (Ian/Shaun). There are other people who contribute web stuff and patches, etc. but they're much more loosely associated with the company.

Neutron will be available in the New Year. I'm looking forward to some time off at Christmas so stuff might come out a little slower than originally hoped.

So does that mean that as the older synths are based on less complex technology that they will come down in price?

Unlikely, not considering we'll be updating them (free to registered users) to have all the latest whizzy stuff that's been developed during 2002.

I could probably be persuaded to do a Christmas deal on Electron. It's such a shame to see that this fanastic product is now regarded by some as "great but overlooked" and I'd like to see more of them going to good homes this holiday season

Yeah, it's funny about the Electron.

As much as I love the Muon product range, I just never got around to purchasing Electron. I don't really understand why.

I'm happy to grab Neutron and I will quite possibly jump at Positron, but Electron seems to be like the forgotten saviour.....strange.
