I've tried PolyPhontics, but it's extremely tedious to have to map out the base note of every sample in an instrument (by default they're all MIDI note 60). Ie., if I want to make a soundfont instrument of all my snare samples, I'll have to manually assign each and every one of them to an individual key.

Do you know of another free or low-cost application that can import large batches of samples and assign them to different keys automatically? Or instruct me how to use Polyphontics properly, if it actually does this.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Where did you get polyphontics from? Everytime I try to download it, I get an error page saying it's not there. I have been looking for a free sample editor for sometime.

By the way, for the features you are wanting, I don't know if you'll find a freebie.
