Host L: Because controllers are impossible to set up easily or at all unless 'supported'. Midi should be enought.

You're missing a whole lot, but I don't think it's your fault. I use Host D for classical styled piano and flute composition, and I don't do anything at all with "beats."Hypertone wrote: Host D: Damn, I thought this would be different than the version I demoed back in 2000, but it still looks like the same pattern sequencing toy that I tried then. From the name change I figured it would be geared more towards audio and pro studio work. Perhaps I'm missing something, but it looks like a program for beats and nothing more to me.

Hmn... would this be the same host used by a popular EBM artist who is fond of capitalisation and bold font tags?eyeknow666 wrote:Ha! I just got it!jens wrote:Hypertone wrote:It has the gayest name of any host.
If so, GUI-resizable MIDI clips, better multi-timbral support and some tighter stability might've convinced me not to sell it.

I hate this host because not enough people bought it to be considered in the game. I hate this host because I know some good day everyboday will be naming it as its own. I hate this host because it's too stable and my other host aside of this one just look toyish. I hate this host because it's not enough pricy (!). I hate this host because on its forum, when you post a request or suggestion, it's already in the host (its manual is still under construction).

I abandoned one host because it went from being
to being
.
I still use (and love) host X, despite the color of the interface being somewhere between charcoal and midnight (and generally looking like a video game from the 80's). This host also doesn't handle audio recording very well, which would cause me to abandon my other host (host Y) altogether.
Host Y is much better at handling audio, but isn't as easy for me to create music in as Host X, which is a shame, because it's name is supposed to be synonymous with "easy".
I'm about to move into a new machine and upgrade host Y, so we'll see if Rewire can come to the rescue and get these two working in Har-mo-ny.

sumtimes wish dat everything wasnt built around midi- this is cause of all my latency problems -diff host have diff latencies on my set up- i wish der was an alternative to midi designed just for pc/vst stuff- the keyboard i use to type has zero latency so does my optical mouse -plug in a midi controller and suddenly everything gets slow and messy - i wish we were past all this interface confusion now u know

I hated my host so much I changed to another one!
My old host was "almost there".. sooo close to being "The One".. but it's riddled with small bugs that make trying to do anything complex painful! It's a shame, too.. maybe the bugs will get fixed, but nobodys talking! And it used to get updated all the time, too.
Sad, really. But I'm happy with my new host!
