I couldn't resist entering, damn.

This is the Biggest Hit.

I got it all. Drums, bass, guitar, funky clavinet and a stellar vocal performance. It got verse and chorus and even an etheral - or whatever - C-piece. And a guitar solo over the final chorus. The lyrics are insensical - but doesn't fail to reference this lovely, virtual meetingplace. What's not to like?

I've never used so many VSTi's in my life. The guitars are played by hand, though.

Here is my entry about my perfect man.

Pure fantasy of course, I am not that materialistic but this is totally along the lines of what record execs like. Pure unadulterated cheesy lowest common denominator PoPnB babylon ala Beyoncé...I should win this competition on meeting that requirement alone :)

I spent this week listening to commercial radio. The songs have verses and choruses, and they're mostly about love.

In that spirit, here's a song with verses and choruses. And it's about love, mostly.

Love Strikes

You can read the lyrics here if you're that kind of person. Cheers.

Finally I get to enter a contest...I think the double Dec/Jan contest was my last one.

This piece is written in Ableton Live 4 and uses Absynth 3 for some atmospheric pads, Reaktor 4 for the wacky electronica sounds, Broomstick Bass demo for bass, SampleTank for drums, Voxengo and Kjaerhus FX, VintageWarmer for overall color.

Oh, and the guitar is an Ernie Ball MusicMan Silhouette...played straight into my Behringer mixer and using Amplitube. Both the backing and the solos are guitar, but I used some funky tricks in Live to create the sick guitar solos.

Enough chitchat, let's start the fusion with Rocktronica! Groovy, baby! :hihi:

EDIT: Corrected name of the file.
My Soundcloud Too many pieces of music finish far too long after the end. - Stravinsky

Nothing much but something unlike anything else I've done. Not too complex or even very brilliant imo but something I find pleasant and visually stimulating with the right 'loop point' to listen to... and possibly some herbal visual aids... not that I would know.

>>> Tower of Babel

In the spirit of all the drama this month, please don't hate me because I'm beautiful.

Well, this is about as good as I can do given my sparse knowledge of harmony. So if cinematic pop has an audience, I suppose this is my single.

btw, this was written just for this contest but I also knew that I'd be developing it further for my new project: HAMMER[SCAPE]. Check my sig for a link.

My rules for this month's free-for-all; to give me some framework to work in:

1. All tracks had to be in one take - thereby limiting my track count due to fumbly playing/singing.
2. I wasn't going to spend 3 weeks tweaking. Once I had a good take; that was it. Gingerly process, then release.

(I've been reading TapeOp alot lately, and they are constantly harping on these two points)

So, here it is - sparse as it is, I present:

Loser

Hope you like it.

Consists of:
1 vocal track - all in one take - through Classic Compressor into Freeverb Too
1 guitar track - all in one take (not the first take, but all in one take); copied to another, panned hard left on original, hard right on the copy and delayed by 2 ticks on the copy - both put through Tracktion's Parametric EQ (to take out a little boxiness on the guitar) and then Freeverb Too.

No mastering limiter or anything - everything I tried seemed to ruin it - just watched the levels and normalized on the output rendering.

My first KVR entry where I sing - please be gentle.

This is why I should get a major record deal.

I did This to my music...

I picked a prefectly good track in 5/4 and butchered it to make it commercial. The original track is called 'I Can Hear Her', but for your amusement I present my competition version... the Sellout Mix! Ring the changes:

I reworked it in 4/4.

I sped it up for 'da clubz' (erm, sorry, is that what they call the discotheque these days? 8) )

It features a disgusting and truly terrible cheese-tastic :hihi: eighties style guitar solo. This solo was recorded in one take after a particularly successful night down the boozer. So considering I was steaming at the time, it's not bad :hihi: The track itself is drum and bass, giving it a cross-genre multi-platform selling angle. Yeah - that's right mofo (whatever that means)

It's got a simple structure so people can follow it.

It's on the good side of repetitive (where the good side is memorable familiarity through repeated elements, and the bad side is monotonous tedium)

All in all, mr record exec, because this makes me such a sell-out, a corporate kiss ass :hail: and for basically creating something that is so full of buzz words and style tricks that it ends up having no real substance (nd therefore will sell a million copies), I deserve a record deal.

I await your perusal.

This one is going to get me a deal when some particularly astute exec realises that this could be the totally inexplicable 'Summer Hit' for 2005. :)

Sunshine

I love to love, you love to love,
Why don’t we do it every day
I love to love, you love to love,
Why don’t we do it every day

Spread a little sunshine in someone’s life today
The world can be happy if we just show them the way
Teach them the game of living,
Show them the joy of giving
Teach them to smile on life and say,
Spread a little sunshine today.

I love to love, you love to love,
Why don’t we do it every day
I love to love, you love to love,
Why don’t we do it every day

Indigo children, growing up in the world today
Their dreams are rainbows, they come to show us the way
Teach us the game of living
Show us the joy of giving
Teach us to smile on life and say
Spread a little sunshine today.

Tracktion, AlgoN, Guitars through FreeAmp_SE, GlaceVerb,T-Sledge, Final Mix, tidied up in Wavelab.

This is my first submission in this forum, and had a lot of trouble with the direct link. I think that it's fine right now!
