Hi I'm just wondering if anyone has been using samplesets from NiceBeats, I really fancy the double cd WaveStation set but don't know much about them, though they seem to have a pretty extensive catalog. Any good?

So that would be no-one then :)

Naw, its been posted before they are pretty crappy. Poorly looped (or not at all), lots of dead silence, etc. I personally tried the Triton one and it was terrible.

Interested in a wavestation eh? Well Korg Legacy is obviously the best but its pretty expensive.. There is Wusikstation though, which can do a pretty good impression (actually can do alot more, considering resonant filters, and waaay more modulation possibilities), and its alot cheaper.

Cheers for reply Floyd, have been interested in Wusikstation but I think I will let things settle down on the Wusik front in general before parting with the cash :)

I have the original volumes 1-33 in WAV and EMU (ESI 4000) formats. They blow serious goats! Most of the samples arent looped at all...and there is a very limited amount of sounds per CD. I would never purchase another CD from them myself.

Please dont tell me you bought all 33 cds before you figured out they sucked, TWP! :o

Actually they came as a big set in a binder. They were on super discount but still :P I got prity screwed on the deal. That was way back when the synthline was their only product. I didnt know much about sampling (had just bought my first sampler and didnt even own a controller keyboard yet)...needless to say I was quite nieve but have learned alot since then ;)

Sorry to dredge this thread back up but this is very useful information.

A long time ago I used to own a Roland U20 and I now regret the fact that I sold it - although by now the keyboard would most probably have been faulty. So when searching for the rack version (U-220) for sale I also came across the Nicebeats stuff and wondered how good/bad they were.

Thanks to you guys I probably saved wasting $50 on their U-220 set :)

It's a shame though as I remember that the U20 had possibly the smoothest strings sound

Hell I have the whole set (1-33) for sale now...$150. They are all nice and neat in DVD cases and barely used. If anyone wants to pick them up. They arent my deal but I enjoy the old ESI disks so who am I to say I guess...maybe its someone elses bag of treats...

My biggest problem with them is their size. I am used to my old ESI disks where I can have a few hundred patches and samples in less than 128meg. Where these disks are about 50-100 patch/samplesets per CD. I guess I could convert them all to Wusik format or something but I dont really have the space for 20 gig or so of samples on my hard drive.
