2.Is there a way to find out other then subscribing to soundscan...?

3.I rarely buy music anymore with all the internet radios like, winamp's list of stations, recently yahoo unlimited, napster, raphsody. Do people just not buy anymore because of this?

4.How do you get your music on yahoo, napster music service or raphsody? Do you need a record deal?
I can't believe my questions are totally ignored

Sorry I went off on a tangent, I'll give #1,2 and 3 a shot :-)

1-From my friends who have sold on CDBaby, the ones who sell the most are selling maybe 4,000-7,000 copies max. And remember if they make 50% and you have to split the rest with 5 people, the returns are not that great, plus those numbers are best case scenarios...

CDBaby also gets your tracks on i-Tunes, Amazon has their own "Associate" program where you can sell as an Indie, check out their site for info on that...

Hmmm, I didn't know MP3.com helps anyone else than established artists anymore, the fact they allow indies is prolly just a front to save face, they turned into yet one more ad venue for pop/commercial stuff....

2-Well, you will need a UPC sticker on your CD if you intend to sell via Amazon's Associate program and a lot of places will not carry your CD unless it has one, check out pricing at the different dupe places, some give you a great deal on the soundscan/UPC deal. I don't know you can find out those #'s without one...

3-Don't let all the sappy stories on the Net fool you, the record companies are still making huge profits off of CD sales, they just want you to feel sorry and you shouldn't; they have an Iron Grip on worldwide distribution means and if you want to sell 10,000+ CDs instead of 1,000 they are the only channel... I think a lot of people still buy CDs, plus now they get them at non music places like Borders, Barnes & Noble, Stabucks, new outlets continue to popup !!
