Working from back to front, and listening on my new (birthday present) KRK Rokits
. As discussed in the last few pages, my taste in music is quite limited, keep that in mind while reading
.
30 Mchlwlsn - Jongleur
Easy listening / soft jazz (and a touch of Take Five), a bit unexpected amidst all the electronic power at kvr. After 1.20 or so I could have used a bit more variation, but other than that it's the type of mood that I wouldn't mind having an entire CD with. Well-performed of course.
31 Respirator - Biggest Hit
This song is very un-you isn't it? (a bit different from e.g. Monochrome
). Great groove, and exciting variation between verse and chorus, although a bit too satirical. You should do this more often if this comes so natural to you.
32 Lady J - Mr Right Now
It's hard to listen to this track unprejudiced, after reading this thread and seeing the formerly accompanying pictures
. As my daughter stated "it's just like a real song", which she didn't expect from my speakers. (She didn't see the pictures, or I'll be in trouble with her mom). Regardless of the discussion, it wouldn't surprise me to hear this song on the radio surrounded by other top-40 songs.
33 Barnadine - Love Strikes
Nice verses and choruses, the mood is a bit neo-retro, could be 60's, gentle and sweet, but still current. A good composition for this months theme. (And lmao @ 1.28 ).
34 Kovacs - Rocktronica
Lots of well-played heavy guitar over a drum-n-bass foundation. To be honest I liked the first few seconds, setting up the groove, the best. After that it gives me the same feeling that modern jazz gives me: That's it's very well done, but that my musical understanding hasn't matured enough yet to fully appreciate it.
35 Eman8ions - Waves Break Below Me
A very strong and dominant bass, I needed this to get even with my neighbors
. As you state yourself it's pleasant to listen to, looping. I would have liked it even better if it was going somewhere, a bit of development.
36 Glooper - Hometown
You have a great groove and good flow, maybe a bit too civilized voice for this genre
. But this is not a genre that I have warm feelings for.
37 Shane Sanders - Hammerscape - Tower
Impressive composition and arrangement. Of course the choir combined with the percussion would be enough to make me love it. I like the way this song is 'un-structured', not repetitive but the different instruments entering and evolving. Inspiring.
38 GregJazz - Four Flavors of Guitar
The intro seemed almost predictable, but when the drums started you switch to a different mood. Several nice mood / tempo changes in this song, and of course skillfully and attractively played guitar.
39 Rockstar_not - Loser
Strong and very different from the typical kvr song, and, as xander already mentioned, has a strong emotional charge. The type of power that Johnny Cash also put in his songs. There are a few moments where the chorus on the guitar is too obvious.
40 OliverDavy - I Can Hear Her (Sellout Mix)
Nice groove, and vocal harmony, and a good, brief, guitar solo in the middle. I missed an intro, it felt like I dropped in half way the song, and to be honest, it feels like it's all just the chorus. Executed very well, but it lacks variation for me. (That didn't stop me from listening 4-5 times
).

Why is it you never bother to comment or review others' songs in any depth?
How many of these competitions do you enter? Have you not seen my past lists of exhaustive reviews? If you're new at this, that's Ok but please don't make assumptions that I never comment or review other's songs. I did so in every competition I entered until now. The only reason I wont be doing it in this instance is 1) i will be busy travelling and unlikely to give the reviews the proper time and 2) because I feel the less I say about others tracks in this PARTICULAR competion the better.
Yes.Do you REALLY believe that your 'face' is all that pretty, relatively speaking?
But that is irrelevant to the point of the competition so I have no idea why you are bringing that up.
Post your girlfriends hot or not rating..I mean, if we want to use your 'body' in tight clothing as a measuring stick, my girlfriend easily makes you look like a contender for Mr. Ed's cousin... and I don't mean this in any disdainful way, but merely truth as humans may know it...
