I just added another sound module to my setup(Korg NS5R). It has 15 different banks. I can get Cubase to get into the first 3, in the inspector, but beyond that I can't. The Cubase manuals have nothing on MSB/LSB banks. Or at least I haven't seen it.
Here's some example of my NS5R's bank list and the Bank Select messages.
Bank Name ; Bank Select(MSB/LSB)
PrgA - 51:xx
00:00:(05)
PrgB - 52:xx
CmbU - 58:xx
etc.....
Cubase has a Korg O5R/W Midi Setup that I use with it but it only works on the first three presets.
Any advice is greatly apprecitated!!!

grr....there is a walk through on how to enter the info on the Cubase site but it is down and I can't remember off the top of my head how to do it. I always record the bank change and cut/paste the message from the list editor.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

Thanks for the tip! I've been through the Cubase Knowledge base and had some help, but it's a bit vague. Especially when some of my bank chages are numbers like "47:xx".
I've have scrolled through every bank in the Cubase Inspector from 0-16383.and still some of my banks don't show up.

There are a few implementations of bank/program change on synths that require stuff sent in the correct order. The bank change generally must be sent first then the program change.
Another pain is that some manufacturers call Bank change 0 (MSB/LSB=0) bank change 1.
Some pieces of kit ignore the LSB, some ignore the MSB. That is the wonderful thing about standards, there are always so many to choose from.
I suspect that the 48:xx refers to Bank48, program change xx (1-128, or 0-127) As logically Bank change 48 should be Bank change LSB= 48 (the LSB numbers are from 0-127, and MSB values are from 128 x(0-127).
Try entering the values in the list editor in a format:
Bank MSB=0
Bank LSB=48 Or the required value)
Program change= required program in that bank.

Thanks for the info Bas! Some of it worked. One of the main reasons I want to be able to do this is that my Module is a few steps from my control keybaord and Cubase...What can I say, I'M LAZY. I would like to scroll through banks and sounds while staying in my seat.
Also I have some MSB messages that include letters like: MSB= 7Fh or MSB=3Dh...how do I enter those???

7Fh is a hex value for 127 decimal.
Use the Windows calculator (calc) in scientific mode, press the hex button, and enter the value, then press the decimal button to convert value to decimal
3d is 61.

WHY do they(midi designers) need to make it so difficult??? Why don't they just have Bank 1,2,3etc, Instead of all this other crap. I think it would be easier to have presets 1-512 rather the 4 banks(01,32,7DF etc) of 128 presets. Sorry for my rant, it's just really frustrating, especailly when I type in these numbers and still get the same 3 banks and presets.

Another thing thaty might be useful is to create a Midi device with the three controls you require (from the Midi device manager) then you could select MSB /LSB and program change values on the fly.

well munkee. firstly try learning the hexadecimal shit.. its not that tough. but a little search thru google should help u get thru with it. next up read the entire section about midi device manager. i've found the explaination there to be so crystal clear. as u would be aware to trigger any of the bank you would have to send a midi bank select message and later a prog change mess for the desired program number.
learn how to set up a new device there and find out the bank sel and prog change mess that would be required to trigger your korg ns5r. then once u have your hexadecimal thing in place, i think u should be able to achieve your goal...
yes once u have the necessary data filled in, in your midi device manager, all your banks and programs will appear in the inspector...
