motu to G4 with tracktion 2 = weirdness

Hi there, I am using a motu 828 mk ll into a powerbook G4 os 10.3.9 with tracktion 2. It is very strange. I have three mics into analog 1,3 and 4. What shows up in the inputs in tracktion 2 is: nothing in input 1, nothing in input 4 and the mic routed thru input 1 appearing in input 3.

I have tracktion 2 on my pc and I have no problem with the identical configuration of mics and inputs with the firewire into it, I move the firewire cable to my mac and it is this weirdness. Mackie thinks its motu, Motu thinks its Mackie. I have reistalled the drivers many times now.
