Circle Jerks
Lead singer in Venice and can see washing dishes in a dinner, also reported that he got called a hippie at a punk concert...so the story goes as was told to me last week.
And they refused to invite him to the Black Flag reunion concert...

hey voidoid....like your sig man. Can you point me to where that Dali quote is from?

Ive been kinda coming to the same conclusion myself over the last couple of years but its been an inkling that was just sorta bubbling up from my subconcious instead of the way Dali presents it...bold and in your face.

Pink Fairies - Mick Farren has written a few books, and occasionally writes articles for publications in LA. I saw him read a little bit from Please Kill Me. He sounds like he should be in Spinal Tap. Hee.

Magazine - John McGeoch passed away a few years ago.

I think I first saw it in a book, but you can find it at numerous quotation sites out there...here's one:

What happened to Michael Jackson?

Eventually something intelligent will appear written here. Watch this space.

He got kidknapped and replaced with Celine Dion's sister. Everyone knows that.

Post

No, I'm serious about Michael Jackson. There's an alien around named after him (I was told he was going to perform on Terminator IV), but I wonder what happened to the original.

Coil

[long list of bands I have never heard of]
At least I know the answer for Coil. Jhon Balance died in an accident late last year. I believe the other guys all agreed to pack it in after that out of respect.
I was aware already about Geff/John's death - I heard the news via a mutual friend, and co-launched a tribute compilation CD project (in association with KVR member GenoX) within a month of his death, as well as contributing to the Book of Condolence. The card I received from the Threshold House is still out on the bookshelf in my workspace.
I actually already know what happened to pretty much everyone on my list, either through personal contact or through the rumour mill, so I guess my post may have been superfluous.

Post

Yeah, Coil's demise is tragic... "Death, he is my friend... he's promised me a quick end" - at least Death kept his promise...

Silver Apples
Suicide put out a new album last year. Both Martin Rev and Alan Vega have been around over the years. The album Vega did with Pan Sonic was really excellent.

I saw something recently aout Silver Apples, can't remember if it was that they reformed or not. Somewhere in the mid-90s, around the big post-rock/Chicago thing, a bunch of Silver Apples disks were reissued, several of them with new stuff recorded alongside the old stuff. They weren't very good if I can remember. Felt like the weirdo hippy stuff was being intruded upon.

Post

Thanks, I'll have to check some of that stuff out...

Dead Milkmen - Who?

Hoodoo Gurus - making a very fine living from the Rugby League song they did for the NRL a few years ago. It sparked a full-on reunion and a new album last year. Strangely, I have never seen them live.

Magazine - DeVoto did his solo album and then teamed up with a guitarist for two albums as Luxuria in the early/mid 90's. Dave Formula's name has appeared on a couple of things I've seen as producer. As reported elsewhare, John McGeoch died last year and Rusty Egan was just the drummer.

Terrence Trent D'arby - Like any cares.

A few books!!!! He's written dozens in several genres, but mostly sci-fi. He is one of my favourite authors and one man I would love to buy a pint for.

They were a silly punk band that wrote songs like "Thing That Only Eats Hippies" "Instant Club Hit (You'll Dance to Anything)" and "Takin' Retards To The Zoo".

My personal DeadMilkmen favorite:
"bitchin' camaro" - great for the days when there was a glut of IROCs around!

circle jerks, uh, small but influential(?)- did "wild in the streets" and "I just want a skank," IIRC.
..what goes around comes around..
