Hmmm...

If you use software reverbs, I still say this does a better job of capturing a realistic sense of natural space ambience than most...and it's "old". A much more tweakable approach to space design.

Hmmm - I don't have it, but it looks like a good interface concept. I have Silverspike R2, which has a similar but limited interface. You can move the two speakers and a stereo mic around in the room. That sets up the direct and early reflections, and to my ears it sounds exactly like moving real mics around in a real room. It's also interesting because you can mix Dry, Direct (from speakers to mic), early refections (from walls to mic), and then the reverb tail. Most reverbs ommit the Direct sound, but sometimes it sounds good to ommit the Dry sound totally ... Totally different from AAR, and yet I find AAR small rooms very satisfactory too. If I could only have one, it would be AAR, but Silverspike is very useful. And this Cakewalk one looks like it might be very good too - without hearing it, but i'm would expect it does a similar thing to Silverspike.

I tried the Princeton demo and like it. It has a smooth quality that fits in a mix. I'm considering that one.

Plus they have me warmed to them because I like it when companies give you a demo you can actually use without constant annoyance. Even if it's free for a month, if it's good enough people will buy it.

I tried and liked Roomverb 2, but was having some glitch issues in my host (T2).

I'm wondering, though, if Princeton will be versatile enough.

Versatile? Nah. But for what it does, it does really well.

At this moment I'm auditioning my Waldorf Pulse+ through the 2016. Pure bliss.
