The next contest should be the "Earworm" song. You write a song that will easily get stuck in people's heads for weeks. Maybe months. :)

Now that'd be fun!

Patrick9 - Sunshine
Very interesting vocals

sttjelle - Sunday
Great lyrics, well sung.
Like the drums, bass, and basic groove.
The synth leads are very rich sounding.

astanine - Baby
loved the phase distortions type retro sounds especially the lead towards the end.
Loved the drum samples.

odavy - I can hear her (sellout mix)
The piano part sounds really good and builds well.
The intro and verse parts worked really well for me. Liked the
complex mix, singing works too.

This is a winner in my book.

Gregjazz - Four Flavors of Guitar
I liked the chunky crunchy power chords and the steel string acoustic parts best.

Have we already done the ideal porn video soundrack?

Or, the soundtrack to my last/current love affair?

Or, this is what my dreams sound like?

Or, soundtrack to the first chapter of your favorite book?

Or, I was supposed to be listening to my teacher but was daydreaming this?

Or, the song I can't get out of my head?

Or, an alien species love story?

Or, soundtrack to a historic event?

Or, play this song at my funeral?

Or, theme song to my very own TV show?
Sorry emdot, but aren't these all merely "free for alls" in sheep's clothing? :(

Voting Party!

Yep.

I'm already having such a weird time trying to decide which tunes are 'most commercial' and which ones I like the best because I like them.

So, I'm going to have me a Voting Party. I'm having a shiteload of friends come over and all that's gonna play on the boomer is KVR contest songs... :)

The demographic is 20 to 30 year-old upwardly mobile Chinese.

...and I am going to let them sway my voting decisions on each and every song as we carry on and make merry. 8)

Afterall -- if you're after a commercial recording deal, then you better be paying attention to what these folks like to hear in the near future.

make sure to have some classical music loving friends there too... And just repeat the first 10 seconds of my tune a couple of times ;)

A song for my funeral on Christmas - that would be a great theme!

Thanks Mr. Patch.

Question - were you already a registered member of the Auditorium so you could download the song? That's where I have it hosted right now, although perhaps Markleford mirrors them, I don't know.

Here's another contest suggestion:

Right now, I'm listening to Brian Wilson presents Smile.

Lots of just over 2 minute sonic experiments in there.

Why not have the KVR contest for July be 'Upside-down Frown'?

We could add a couple of rules:

1. Must publish the key the 2 minute vignette is in. (reason - someone could arrange these in circle-of-5ths and mix-tape/mashup them - just like what Smile sound like.

2. 2 levels of contest - best Wilson-like vignette, and best 3 part mix tape of the previous submissions.

3. vignettes have to be submitted by 15th of July, mixes by 23rd of July.

Totally true!!! And had I known that I'd have done more of an acoustic power ballad with some electronic sounds thrown in for good measure :)

THAT'S A FANTASTIC IDEA :!: :!:  And the compiling of those 2min snippets into a full suite a la Smile even better.

BUT what if someone wants modulation in his tracks?

Anyway, I'm really into this ideam but sadly I don't see many people going along with it...
