I hear that as far as dance music radio play, you need some famous dj to remix your track before you get any airplay, it that true?

I find it funny how dance tracks remixed by some sort of famous radio dj, then go all the way to the top spot of billboard and then plunge into abyss withing a week or so. Ha, one more thing, anyone ever notice how tiesto dominates most electronic/dance charts in the commercial world? haven't these people heard of SUN Project or Infected Mushroom, Or Cosmosis or ....I will not give the rest away, its better the good stuff stays underground...

Tiesto= Trance Mafia?

Just surprised How uneducated people are about electronic music. I mean they still buy van Dick's music and think thats good trance? where the hell have they been since 1998 when van dick had one good song, well 2 maybe "for and angel" and "worlds" he hasn't made anything close to that and that's kind of outdated now anyways

Nah amn My friend has had nice radio success he is not anyone famous.He just happens to be on the right label is all.He produced the song LOVE IS DRUG song by ROSKO

Do small labels try to get you air play? or is that something only the big 5 can do?

I don't know about other countries, but for Germany: Yes, it's unfortunately true.

---k Em! The dance music scene' top DJ is a marketing scam. A good one. Sure you can get be good but if nobody knows who the hell you are then why should they buy your stuff. Or should I say how will they find you?

Its making me sick, the same big 5 have been on the top dj list since 2000 Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, Sasha, Christoper Laurence, Rank1

And they all play the same played out stuff, while the good trance stays underground and its hard to find,

User, Britney, Chemical Brothers, Gwen Stefani, Coldplay.... sound familiar?....

Just because they're up there in the top 10 doesn't mean they're any good - just that they're popular (edit: you guys probs already knew that tho). The Scratch Perverts DJs could kick any of those guys asses around the planet, but they aren't big name trance jukeboxes so they won't get into the top 10 (and turntablism isn't exactly mainstream atm

).

I borrowed a Tiesto DVD from one of my friends because, well, he was willing to lend it to me, but Tiesto never really did anything during the whole 3 hours or so the DVD ran for that made me sit up and say "whoa, how did he do that?" it was more like "hey look he can press play and dance around behind his turntables, I'll go make some coffee". Unfortunately nobody's ever heard of anyone who I think is more worthy of the top 10

The other unfortunate thing is that, yeah, a remix by one of those guys will sell your records, and DJing is a pretty good way to get people to notice you, too.

I can get airplay over here for free though, go community radio stations
