...every now and then you come across a plugin that renews your love for digital audio...

It's available again, then. Good news for anyone who doesn't have it yet. A really great dynamic effect. Probably ranks within my top ten most used effects (and I use a lot of them).

Post

yup.

edit: btw does somebody know of a proggi that would do runtime optimization for dll's - sort of like flasm for swfs? to treat the filterbank a bit.

Cool. I've been lurking for this one for a while!http://www.obertone.com/

This is one of the best goddamned plug-ins ever - I can't believe it hasn't gotten more attention. My life is grander because of it.

Hey Debutante, just read your review. You mention you'd like to see this updated. What changes would you want to see?

I don't know about any particular modulation of functional changes I could offer in suggestion, and I don't believe any are necessary, but here are some immediate thoughts:

1. A dedicated GUI. Nothing fancy at all...just so the interface is a little cleaner and functions are grouped real nice and neurotic like.

2. An output/velocity/volume option. Some modulation types increase volume a little, and especially where resonance is high, you get a little dirt or distortion.

3. Sometimes even with the resonance turned all the way down there seems to be a speckle too much of it, even though you are sitting at the desired frequency and band type. I can't seem to get rid a light dust, although this could merely be my own approach. I'll check it out some more here.

Functionally though,..it..is..a..beast. I wouldn't know what more to ask of it from that vantage point.

...maybe we're on the same wavelength...

I thought those plugins were taken down after the heated debate about SpectriX involving the mastermind behind Voxengo, Aleksey.

Could someone post some before and after samples?

Of what?

The filterbank in action; I never understood this kind of plugin, I would like to know what creative things can be done with it.

I never was able to close the filters entirely. It seemed, that there is a lower limit for the cutoff frequency. Therefore I did never use it.

Soundwise I did not see anything special also.

upsidedown, I'm with you, never understood the big deal about it, but then I put the sound an a synth playing a simple saw...nothing more...and by god it turned that sound into complete phatness...don't know how, but the filterbank injects life and interest in any sound...sounds like "hardware" to...lotsa quality!
