Do not ask me for adress.

Post

why... and who would you report it to... lol, I've always taken pride in the fact that I pay for my software because thats the right thing to do but being a tattle tale will do nothing but get you upset cause although you may shut down one site there are millions like it...

PS: I'm sure the people you report this to will also wonder how you happened to *stumble* upon it

Post

It's easy to stumble upon stuff. One of my old email addresses used to get spammed by some organisation called "MP3Z Club" (something like that anyway). The emails used to be filled with links for heaps of software (not just audio, but office software, graphics - just about everything you could think of).

I mean, give him a break. You only have to Google for a review of a plug-in and two or three pages in there's links to warez sites from Russia, Romania and everywhere in between. Cut the guy some slack will you?

As for why report it - it might just be a minor irritation for the pirates to have one site shut down (they have to go to the effort of setting another one up) but it's still better than letting them operate with impunity IMHO.

EDIT - to answer the original question, maybe try http://www.be-cool.org

I agree with jdplaya - it'll always be there, live above it. I always see people who overreact in this fashion as attempting to pay penance for the past. "The lady doth protest too loudly" Although, like many, I am not "without spot" when it comes to my past on this topic, I too take great pride now in OWNERSHIP. Maybe, the best way to reform these people is to encourage them to have a taste of that pride.

Well done indeed, Comrade!

I should also warn you that there has been a lot of suspicious activity on this message board lately. There are certain individuals, deviant thinkers, that need to be reported to the authorities. Proceed with caution.

Are you Russian or just living there?

I don't think there is anything wrong with reporting software piracy. Think of yourself as a witness not a complainant. In some cases you may even recieve a reward. You can report it here...

http://www.siia.net/piracy/report.asp

or here..

http://www.nopiracy.com/

or beter yet report it to the companies that sell the software and let them handle it.

On a serious note... the Citizen Corps is one of several volunteer organizations that has been setup by the Bush administration as a part of Homeland Security. One aspect of Citizen Corps was a citizen "snitch" program called Operation TIPS which was deemed too controversial and (allegedly) abandonded.

I'm always leery of citizens snitching on each other. IMO it sets potentially bad precedents. We really shouldn't be policing each other. There are already authorities to police such crimes. Let them do their job.
