IDIOT PILOT: STRANGE WE SHOULD MEET HERE
(Produced by Daniel Anderson and Michael Harris)
We strip them. We get a ..... and one of the coolest sounding records we’ve heard in a long while.
Recorded all with free software they downloaded off the net. Do tell. Oh, we will. Next ish.
--from the looptalk forum --
I was reading the latest issue of EQ magazine today, and came across an article about a group called Idiot Pilot. Basically two 18 year old quasi-hipsters who produced their own album using, among other things, a Windows 95 pc and ProTools Free. The article's best quote from one of the little dips***s:
"And all the programming was done using Fruity Loops, which we had a friend pirate off of Napster."
--end
I have read the magazine as well, and i 100 percent confirm this...
so what do you think?

it could be done i geuss-
dat whitetown song 'your woman' is meant to have been done on a pretty simple set up
what they dont tell u though is any commerical cd is mixed and mastered by pros witch makes a big diff- quality wise
its doable but its also in their interest to exagerate and create a good story

They are from the city I live in, I don't really think the mix down was done by established pro's.
but I'm sure they are really, really good.

Napster's already a generic term. Like, you can "xerox" on a Canon, or how every soda drink is "a coke" in some places.S_A_P® wrote:napster only worked with mp3 files I thought?

Napster used to have loads of programs and such with the file extensions changed to .mp3 instead of .zip or .exe. I think there was even a special name for them, but I don't remember what it was.
The generic term idea is probably more likely, though.
