did you receive an email? I still haven't. I just happened to see it off chance
If it sounds good it is good.

No, actually
... but I believe it will eventually come! THe original newsletter announcing Live 5 came after I had picked it up on the forum. Probably something to do with Ableton having thousands of customers to mail
... hence the "heads up" I intended with this thread.

It shows the beta in the download section... But 4.14 shows up?? Hmmm!

You need to go to the Ableton home page, click on the hand picture advertising Live 5, then in the right sidebar where it mentions the beta click there - it will take you to the download.
Using it now - hey first impressions - bloody fantastic

Oh man this is awesome! I love it! Seems stable and all that. It's fully functional, so it's basically Free Live 5 now instead of 2 months from now. Haven't had any crushing stability problems... yet.
It is soooo awesome. Love the new effects and MP3 support. Upgraded Simpler = win. Latency Compensation = finally.

The current beta version expires on 27 June, but then there will be the next one, etc.
Yeah, everything working fine here so far. The freeze is beautiful - at last!!
All of my VSTs work spot on. Very exciting

I'm not beta testing V5 this time ....
Have fun guys .
To broke to afford the V5 update so I'm not going to torment myself with this one.

HAH! Haven't tried any NI stuff yet eh?
I've found a bazillion bugs, but the Abletons have the best beta process I've seen yet. They crush bugs with stunning efficiency.
The bugs aside, this is going to be THE killer release I think. At this point I can use live for like 90% of what I'm doing, and that makes me smile

I missed the window to get into the beta
but I hear some really great news: 20/25% more efficient than V4 (when does that happen in software?) AND now there's freeze. I think all reasons to use any other DAWs just got eliminated (except T2 timeline midi editing, sometimes).
Ableton really know how to update a product!

Have they improved the timestretch engine? - I think this was one of the things in most need of attention.

Yeah, now there's a 'complex' algo.aMUSEd wrote:Have they improved the timestretch engine? - I think this was one of the things in most need of attention.

i'm scared of the beta, i downloaded it but didn't install it yet, cats are just too happy over there at the ableton forum, theres a thread over there titled ' features that ableton didn't tell you about' or something like that and its just sick, the ones they told us about were enough but the secret ones are just as ill. I thought project 5s upgrade was a great one, cakewalk no how to listen to request but ableton have really taught me with Live 4 and rediculously now with Live 5 that the same request can be totally different depending on who's answering those request. I've never seen people so happy with a beta, this one is definitely going to be a classic.

It really stomps all over everything else in terms of workflow at this point (for myself anyway)
I can't believe
a) How well auto-warp works
b) How well the new freaking "Complex" timestretch algo works
c) How well presets are handled now
d) How cool the MCU integration is
e) How unbelievably useful the "Live Clips" are going to be
f) I could go on for eternity
