Hi, people.

I'm looking for a specific sustain plug in, not for strings, bout for small wav or midi files.

I had created the files with my keyboard, and now I wish apply the sustain effect on them.

There is some plug in for that???

You mean by using the sustain pedal? If I'm not mistaken, your wav files have to be specifically tailored as a set of multisamples for that to work.

If you like finding loop points and editing wav files, that's the only way to do it that I can think of. MIDI files can't be 'sustained' per se. You can stretch out the notes in your MIDI editor, and if the instrument they're triggering has looped notes, it'll keep looping as long as you've stretched the note for. Otherwise, it'll decay based on how it's been programmed.

I guess we'd have to have more information about what you're trying to accomplish in order to give better advice.

There is one way to do it, but it is imperfect. One of Richard Dobson's phase vocoder plugins called pvaccu.dll will sustain a sound. Works by applying an amplitude dependant feedback echo to each analysis channel. Downsides are that the effect is mono only, it'll not sound natural as it makes amp trigerred loops, so it'll sound warbly, and it'll add noticeable latency.

A sustain pedal won't be of much use really, except you could set the midi CC value to crossfade audio back and forth. I only use modular hosts, so I have no idea how you'd do it in anything else. In a modular, you could build an effects chain with outs to two channels that looks like: crossfader > pvaccu > reverb. Set pvaccu to something like 10%, put some subtle reverb on to give it a sort of piano sustain feel, and you might get something close to what you are after.

Cheers,
Steve

Please give more detail. I can't understand what you want to do here. Strings? Why "small" wave files? Wave files are different than MIDI files.
