I would appreciate if some of you could recommend me good models and manufacturers that you might have come across or used, that are of good quality, econimical and robust. Thanx...

I was looking to invest in a decent vocal microphone for my home setup for VOCALS, preferably a condenser.

that would be my first choice if I had the extra money.tetraplan wrote:I have a Røde NT1 which seems to be pretty good.

However, my MXL V57 does a pretty good job and was insanely cheap.

I use a Red5 RV6 mic which cost me £45 new!

No complaints.
Red5 have just opened up in the US, although they don't seem to be offering the RV6. The RV8 & RV10 look pretty good though.

I don't like the sound of the SM58. It's as if a block of concrete falls out of the speakers. Possibly the least subtle piece of audio-equipment on Earth.
I'm not familiar with the sound of the SM57 on vocals, but it's marketed as an instrument-mic so I guess it's even worse.
The only reason why you see these mics on stage all the time is because they're built like tanks. They'll survive the worst rock/punk/metel band out there.
