What to get now? Loops or Brit Horns?

What to do with my $50?
I got those $50 epointz sitting on my account and I should use them somehow, I guess.
I got SS2, ST2XL and Symphony Strings from the group buy and to be honest I don't know what else to use the pointz for. I can't use them on Philharmonik for the next 3 months, cause I'm moving, which costs a lot of $$$, so I gotta wait 3 or 4 months before getting Phil.
I thought Brit Horns could be nice for me or some drum loops.
But since I'm gonna get Phil in 3 or 4 months and I got SS2+ST2 sounds, why one need Brit Horns on top of that?
As for drum loops, I'm doing Pop mainly. But loops don't seem to give me what I want. Usually I would need more control over them and I would like to have some choice of one and the same loop with variations to fit Intro, Verse, Chorus, Bridge and so forth. Does any of SR drum loop collections satisfy this need?

P.S. I don't really feel like getting more Pianos or Guitar sounds or other sounds. It'll take many weeks, maybe months before I start get a feeling on how much SS2 and ST2XL already satisfy this area of my needs and I feel like they do.

In support of getting loopz:

There are some good loops online. If you're game, you might want to check out getting the Groove Capsule, it'll be more economical than downloading $50 worth of eSoundz. With your esoundz member status, and your ePointz, you would probably not need to pay much extra to get it. There are tons of good loops in there for pop. Regarding verse/bridge/chorus sections etc, the loops aren't set out like that, but there are plenty of variations to make your own sections. Of course, it's great to get different vibes by layering the loops. There are plenty of creative ways to get cool rhythm sections without having to slave away at drum programming (unless you're into that kind of thing!).


In support of getting Brit Horns:

Sure, you've got SS2, ST2XL, and Philharmonik in the near future... but in the immortal words of Squids - "It's different!" Seriously though, Brit Horns is done by AMG (not IK or SR), so it's got a very different vibe - sort of a sassy pop/r&b thing going on. It's very different to Philharmonik! If you want to be doing a lot of brass-heavy work, then having a few different flavours on hand can be VERY useful.

Does that mean with the same drum sound, style and tempo, I'll have enough to choose from for different sections of a whole song? Could you describe more in detail how it would cover the needs of a whole song?
And if get the product description right, one can also trigger just segments of loops? How is that achieved? That would give some good control, cause one could switch segments around as needed.
How flexible is it in terms of adapting to the tempo I want?

Is it chromatic samples all the way or does it also come with licks? If there are licks, how can they be made to fit my harmonic needs / chord progressions?
Liquid Sax will be cool in that aspect. Since it seems like SR is doing something that I might consider getting instead of (or additionally to) Stylus - are we gonna see super-liquid Horns from SR as well?

in terms of doing a full pop song structure with drums, the sonic reality drum kits fulfill that need more than their loops will. finger drumming the i-map kits always gives the best results.

if you are more comfortable with projecting an electronic sound(as most pop music is electronic now), you can use the loops in groove capsule. the loops are divided into segments like a rex file would be(there are actual rex versions in there). you can make your own variations in that one loop no problem by rearranging the midi data that goes along with it. i havent used groove capsule in a long time though so kim might have to help me out here. and keep in mind there are a ton of styles covered in the groove capsule, not just electronic music. it's a great library

dont forget to check out the eclectic drums capsule for some unique kits

i'm not exactly sure what style of music you do, pop is a very broad term. to some it is simple piano ballads with strings, to others it is full blown drum n' bass or house tracks.

i dont really want to give too much advice cause it's hard, and i dont think you should just burn the 50 epointz on just anything unless you really need it. as kim says, they dont expire

Not if you're a drumming illiterate. - Which I almost am. And I wonna do song writing in the little time I have, not spend 100 hours on drums.

thanks for the plug tele. There are definately some cool grooves on the grooves disk. I don't have the brit horns set yet, so I can't comment on that, one. I really like having a lot of a good sounds in my library. I figure you can almost put a list on a wall, and toss a dart to pick a sound set at esoundz, and it will hit a winner. It's always fun to expand your library. You are going to get a cool deal no matter what, as you spend your well earned epointz!!
