I guess it all depends on your budget. From a practical standpoint, getting the Studio Pak, or even the new Ultra Pak, will give you more bang for the buck, than buying separately. If I was on a budget, I would get the Project Pak (with the free LA-2A), and then as soon as I could afford it, get the 1176LN, for $149.00. That would essentially give you the plugin equivalant, of the discontinued Mackie card. Be careful, aquiring UAD-1 plugins has been shown to be addictive.lesha wrote:is it better to buy a project pak and buy plugins you want later, or to buy studio pak right away ?
I have (2) cards myself, and the entire current plugin suite. There are a bunch of new plugins coming down the pike, in the near future. It looks like I'll have to break out the 'ol credit card again.
I love the UAD-1 plugins, especially the vintage plugins, it is pretty easy to get a great professional sounding track. They ain't too shabby to look at, either
On their website, UA just added audio demo's, of all their plugins, in wav & .mp3 format, that you can stream or download, for your listening pleasure. Just click on the plugin that you are interested in and then click on the "Demos & Tips", to the left, when the screen changes, for that plugin:
