Hi!
As I don't like to render my tracks I'm always trying to optimize the CPU-load of my plugins.
What are your tips for (very)low CPU-consumption fx? Plugins that are optimized and have high quality despite the low CPU!

Also the Tc Native bundle aren't quite the hog anymore, i think it's the same case as with the Waves Ren stuff, it's starting to get a bit old right now and as cpus grow faster i can afford more compressors and sonic destructors tracks, and i think their sound is great.

I don't judge, but you realize that this way your priority is not at the musical and technical quality but on the efficiency and workflow? Do you choose soft synths the same way?Alien Leg wrote:As I don't like to render my tracks I'm always trying to optimize the CPU-load of my plugins.

I tend to work the same way - workflow is very importantM'Snah wrote:I don't judge, but you realize that this way your priority is not at the musical and technical quality but on the efficiency and workflow? (nowadays I sometimes render though as eXT makes it so easy...

I used to... but with 5 or 6 notes ZV, Cronox3 (and other synths too) and some effects and my CPU can't handle it, even when it's only 3 or 4 tracks. (Actually I ran into this after I changed my approach, instead of 4 track with 4 VSTi's, I now have 20 tracks, some shared VSTi's (e.g. ST2) and a few others, and 4-5 VST effects per track...jens wrote:I tend to work the same way - workflow is very importantM'Snah wrote:I don't judge, but you realize that this way your priority is not at the musical and technical quality but on the efficiency and workflow? All of the Kjaerhus plugs are optimised for low CPU, and are both effieicnt and excellent.
(The effects in Reason are very low CPU consumption, or course, but that's probably irrelevant)
Many of the effects that are native to your sequencer are likely to be efficient because they were made to be so in your chosen host.

That's the one to go with, especially if you're on the cheap. It's free.tERMoBLUe wrote:multifx - luxonix lfx-1310
Reading the other posts reminds me I sure like the free Kjaerhus things too.
