We welcome our friend Kim (previously known as forever, "Jeez" ;) ) from down under as a new moderator on the SR/esoundz forum. For several years now Kim has been very helpful to others on this forum and since he is very knowledgeable about SR and IK products as well as the activities of esoundz such as group buys, epointz and demos we decided to make him a co-moderator of this company forum.

Kim came to visit us (along with Mr. Tunes who is another long time supporter and Larry Ortega who both do some of our demos) in Anaheim for last NAMM. He got to see first hand what all of the new products are about and what kind of reaction it gets from top pros in the industry (not just made up stuff! When you see so many famous producers, engineers, musicians etc. coming up to the booth raving it hits home that this is REALLY the *#*@!

Anyway, we're always happy to get support from all of you and we enjoy your participation in our forum. We're glad we have Kim around to help moderate and do his thing.

Welcome Kim! Have fun.

PS. No this doesn't mean I will be around less. But, I am working on a full symphonic score these days. A little surprise in the works. ;) :D. I guess you can tell I am having fun with a certain orchestral workstation module about to be released. :o

Post

yeah Kim's really cool, I'm glad he's moderating now. I sometimes cant understand how he knows SO much about the IK/SR product line, it truly amazes me. and forget SR stuff he knows so much about music and software in general, so we had some interesting chats in Anaheim this year. We had a great time showing the products off to the industry pros, and we would talk about after how fun it is to be in charge of demonstrations for people that work on really big projects.

he really loves this stuff and has a dedication to it, so congrats Jeez you deserve it! you are officially Knighted by the Squids.

Squids cant wait to hear what you're working on. make sure you send out copies of this mysterious orchestral workstation to Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard. I went to see Batman Begins for the 2nd time tonight. I still cant get over the two allstar composers sharing the soundtrack credit on this one. They mixed the score sooo loud and get away with it, never interferes with the dialogue once. I'm stalking the record store clerks waiting for the score to arrive. Kim you gotta get out to this show as soon as you can- you'll love it.

Well, welcome, Kim, welcome to your new virtual identity.
Talking about Hans Zimmer: If you happen to actually see him and demo Philharmonik, don't forget to ask how the project for his "private Sampler" is going.
You know that he owns 1/3 of Wizoo and that Wizoo is building a special sampler for him according to his specifications.

well it's a good move to invest in products that are vital to your productions. you can be rest assured that if i ever make it big I will be pouring money into IK and making sure they fulfill my requests. I dont even want to know what Hans Zimmer needs in his software. He probably demands more than Prince and Trent Reznor combined.

I think Squids is working with another old name in film sound on a custom library- he mentioned it a while back on one of these forums.

Also keep in mind that libraries such as the Sonic Refills and the Capsules were created with ambitious users like us(the forum junkies) in mind. SR has taken a good effort to listen to what we demand and make products out of it. This company forum has been around for a while now and they take it seriously.

may i ask how old you are telebunke? i'm turning 23 this summer.

Definately true, that's why we love SR&IK softwear&soundz. I noticed in some forums, people were reacting - well in a strage way - when they heard H.Zimmer's gonna have his own sampler made by Wizoo. I don't understand them, cause if I was at the top of the list, that's what I'd do as well. You know Cubase-special-features for my workflow. :)

Yes, that's my impression, too. Squids seems to be a communication channel from us to IK and it looks like wishes that were expressed at KVR amde their way.
BTW, what about sound scrolling with the cursor keys. ;)
may i ask how old you are telebunke? i'm turning 23 this summer.
Which means I'm about 71% older than you are - too old to learn enough about music and become famous as a performer for this lifetime, we'll se about the next one. ;)

This is good to hear, Squids.

Let me just say that IMO Larry Ortega is a monster talent and someone I would hope to actually meet in person. Also Mr Tunes is already made it big in my book. Jeez is in good company with these dudes.

Cheers,
Gordon

That's cool, Kim/Jeez has been so helpful with putting some demos on the net for us to hear...and that helps greatly because as a user/buyer, I like to hear what it can do before buying....

And to have such a knowledgable person here...I can rest asure that if any problem arises...ok, I won't bother you THAT MUCH! :p

Welcome....

Larry is definitely a monster talent. He's probably one of the top demo-makers on the scene in general. I was just listening to one of his tracks for Albino 2 yesterday. His Sampletank2 stuff simply kicks ass.
He was a hoot to hang out with at NAMM, so if you ever get to meet him you are a lucky dude.

And thanks for saying i made it big in your books! i appreciate it. I think Jeez just ups the bar for us all really.

what is PMG in montreal? the jazzfest?

yeah this sample-based stuff is really different than the old days when you could walk into a store and try out the latest roland or yamaha, so demos are really important. I wonder if anyone has been in stores that are letting you play Sonik Synth 2 on a workstation? i havent seen that yet.

Well, having a demo running in my local music store...not going to happen, unless it's a "free" copy for them.

But realistically, it's impossible to have ALL software on display...which one do you choose to demo? And the, do you demo all plug-ins? Some requires you to pay online...and that's not going to happen.

That's where people like Kim steps in...thanks a million.

How about "special copies" for stores, where the authorisation can only be done on one PC? Should be a deal like Store buys 3 and puts them in the shelf - store get a demo version on top.
One would need to work out the details, but I imagine that there'd be more shops having a demo station with ST2, SS2 and so forth.

"Ladies and gentlemen, uh, we've just lost the picture, but what we've seen speaks for itself. The Corvair spacecraft has apparently been taken over -- 'conquered' if you will -- by a master race of giant space ants. It's difficult to tell from this vantage point whether they will consume the captive earth men or merely enslave them. One thing is for certain: there is no stopping them; the ants will soon be here. And I for one welcome our new insect overlords. I'd like to remind them that as a trusted TV personality, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar caves." 8)
