The rest of my meaningless rablings:

aieda_cin - tiholasciato
It's pretty and sounds good. For some reason I think of the Eurovision song contest, even though it doesn't have those big ethnic drums... The climax comes a bit late for a two minute song, and yet you find time to fade out slowly. Pretty though. What language is it? Greek? Sounds Greek to me.

1-2-many - Deal with it
Maybe not hysterically up to date, but this sounds good. Sounds 80s good, like Tower of Power or Toto or something. Kick ass production, but still a little retro. I made that point three times in two lines. It sounds good. If this is the beginning of a new-prog record, I might buy it. If it stays poppy, maybe not :) But you might get a deal with this demo. Go for the exec with a mullet. :D

PawPawPatch - Ricky Krews
I think I'll give the reality show a miss. ;)
Uh... Not sure about this. Some drums, some leads, some weird computer vocals and a little chaka khan thing chorus. And a horrible ending :D
Sounds OK, but leaves me a bit cold.

damstraversaz - hora
Evocative, pretty, with a nice melancholy feel to it. I wish the bass was played by a bass player. I like this track. It is quite soundtracky, like others have pointed out, but I think melancholy instrumental music has been buttf%&cked by the movies for too long and should be brought to the spotlight in its own right. Nice entry.

Splynter/Sp0rk - The Arrival
I am not a real big fan of the 303 type hihat, so I don't like this until the bass and stuff comes in at about 30 seconds. But from then on I enjoy it a lot, even the hihat. :)
You overdid the JMJ laser a bit maybe, but it's a fun track, albeit short.

liqih - here comes dee bass
or not - the download got stuck...
So I'm reviewing the beginning of it. I'm not crazy about it. It has the very simple harmonic structures of the early 80s, with a bass and a simple lead and prominent unimaginative drums. Not my favourite. Cool text-to-speech vocals, they fit the song well. And a nice and airy production.

Griels - crazyeverytime
I think you've come up with a new trick there, a mix between the scat of the old jazzists and the rap break of the poppists - SCRAP, perhaps? Made me laugh anyway. Fun song, but between the falsetto chorus and the scrap break it is for the vocal effort this one gets shortlisted :)

Knoob - The Kube
What have I said about these early 80s bands? OK, at 30 secs it evolves a bit, and the lead and bass saves it from the bin. I'll listen a couple more times before I decide on this one, but my first impression is that this is not quite inventive enough to lead the not-really-overdue revival of 80s synth pop... Sorry...

nikp2000 - kvr star
Haha - this tickled me, and although the drums sound like they're in the bath room and the falsetto leaves a little something to be desired, the parody is good and you follow it through :D Good effort. Maybe not a vote, but a laugh at least.

_niko_ - sign me
Not completely unrelated to ...uhm... my own entry, is it :)
I guess I have already revealed that I prefer this kind of 80s music to the human leagueness we see a bit much of here, but I'm not over enthusiastic either. Your guitar playing is improving, I didn't cringe once. Good job. And you don't sing half bad, I'm sure you can do even better when you're not trying to be sarcastic.

Markleford - Broken
Holy shit! Wow! Excellent sound mangling there! I almost think the vocals could have been even more distorted, but for real. You know, singing too loud into a bad mic through a broken amp and tired cabinet too loud onto old tape. And *then* through the plugins of your choice. Good one. Short listed. Should get lotsa votes. I want dreams like that. My last useful dream was about soap.

eljorno - time to advance
The brass synth and the drums get a bit too fanfarey (new word?) for me, and the organpoint strings aren't that interesting, but the guitar stuff is excellent and the song definately has its own style. I take it you have a long version since this is called short? Nice song, but I have reservations.

slartibartfast - thanks for the memories
You actually sound almost like Morrisey, dude! I think you've managed to nail most of your intentions, and although I'm not sure it's heading for heavy rotation on MTV, I salute your effort - not too many people have made a real effort of making this theme work. It's either been their safe old stuff with more limiters or it's been (mostly half assed) parodies. This sounds sincere and it sounds good. You have to put love and respect into a parody. It won't work if you don't think for a moment that "he actually means it". And I'll be damned if I'm not singing "thanks for the memories" to myself. Shit! :D

whyterabbit - Alabaster
Lovely distorted piece of pop music there... Good thing it's only two minutes, because you wouldn't have gotten away with 'the sweep' one more time. But like it is it's OK. Pretty, yet a bit disturbing. PG kind of scary?
I'm not a pre-teen Barbie-owner, nor AM I goth or metal, although I can like some of the music that claims to be... This is a bit all over the place, like you say, but I like it. This might get my vote, but I'm not promising anything. And I *don't* play with dolls. Nope.

freeztar - keep it bumping
Oh, I like the drums. I've been trying do something like that, but failed. I like this!
Good one. Definately on my short list.

That's all. It's 3am and I've got work tomorrow. Damn!

Time is an illusion - lunchtime doubly so.

Thanks: I intentionally went for the "whole vibe" thing rather than meticulously producing slick studio BS. Which is also convenient because I left so little time for me to finish the track this month!

Hey, another thumbs-up for sound: I guess I played that hunch right. :)
I almost think the vocals could have been even more distorted, but for real.
Quite possibly will end up that way: my wife has commanded that I make a whole song out of it!
I want dreams like that. My last useful dream was about soap.
Wish I had more of them! Used to happen all the time, but it has been more than 10 years since it's happened last. And unfortunately I don't even have any cool "burned my brains out with narcotics" stories to explain it: near as I can tell, it's corporate employment that kills the creative side of the subconscious mind!
