I just picked up the latest compilation from Renaissance records – James Zabiela Utilities. It’s the 28th compilation of theirs - I’ve bought them all (a total of around 75 cds!) – I guess I got hooked way back from my first visits to their nights at Venue 44 in Mansfield and then later in Derby.
The interesting thing about this one is that one of the cds was mixed entirely using Live – and it sounds beautiful. Nice mix of Windowlicker too.
I can’t recommend their compilations highly enough – predominately progressive house, but with enough examples of just about every other type of electronica from the past 15 years to make them for me the ultimate chronicle of electronic dance music – every other album I listen to is one of theirs.
