Which, depending on how flexible it is, may well render the whole question irrelevant.

My whole reason for asking was the lack of EQ on the EXT mixer

I mostly use the EQ in Live, or Fruity Parametric. I own Voxengo CurveEQ but for some reason it *eats* my CPU so I don't use it that much...

i think a very usefull plugin would be a simple but good-sounding band-pass filter EQ with low CPU usage, so you can use it as a track-insert and only let pass the used frequency-range of that track..... this really cleans up a mix a lot

My main eq's are the PSP Master Q, Wave Arts TrackPlug, MD3, followed by Blue Tubes, Pultec Pro

GlissEQ on every track. I like its sound, its editable EQ curves, and the ability to share FFT curves between instances to see overlapping frequencies.

My main EQ has become (after long times with Waves Q10, Logic FatEQ, and ParisEQ) the Sonalksis 517. Really a very good native EQ, easy to get the settings right, sounding convincing at wide and narrow bands over the whole range, can also boost treble with decent quality and it sounds fine when stacked. But when switching between instances becomes a bit complicated because of the few and limited bands, i sometimes still use the good old Q10. :P
For phase-sensible tasks i use Waves LinEQ.

I agree - something like the excellent bandpass filter in Camelphat, as a standalone with low CPU. THat would be a nice-to-have :D

I use my "Swiss army knife" on almost every track:
Kjaerhus GAC-1 (does much more then just EQ)

And Pultec from UAD when it's time to get aggressive (solo instruments)

I hardly ever use EQ myself :? (maybe one track in 20 will have EQ on a channel), but when I do, it's either the Sonic Timeworks EQ or FilterscapeQ6.

i use the tracktion native eq nowadays, but tried out IQ4 and it seems really neat... Not really sure, what do you all think of tracktion native eq? Too much? I used to use nyquist but ... idont know, sometimes i really want to get some resonant tones and hi/low shelf cuts, which you couldnt really do in nyquist :)
