hey there!
so i wanted to ask the folks here if they can help me, especially since there are a lot of people here from europe that might've seen something i dont know of yet.
basically i'm finishing up my course in sound design and i'm looking for a very short 3d animation or trailer(or game trailer) to create a 5.1 surround sound mix for, and i'll do the music as well. it doesnt matter if the thing has sound on it already, i'm stripping it clean and starting from scratch. i really cant work on anything longer than a few minutes
so if anyone knows of any good 3d animation schools that have their student work online, any cool animation companies featuring stuff on the web, or maybe a website that compiles a ton of good animations (like animwatch.com) that would be really helpful to me.
to add to this, i'm also looking for something that is really open to cool sounds, or at least something that can use a 5.1 space. some animations are fairly flat in terms of their sound requirements and just need Left to Right panning. so, sci-fi/experimental is kind of the genre i'm aiming for, but i'm also up for a comedy or anything that has nice character to it.
hopefully one day we will locate an animation that we can all work on and have some sort of competition since there are a lot of sound designers here i think it would be fun.
thanks so much!

Anyone who has 3D Studio should be able to get you an animation. There is one of the tutorials that's really cool, and about a minute long I think? I havne't seen it in awhile though.
I think Zeotrope was another good site for you to hook up with animators too.

Max is the newer version, but yes. Anyone who actually owns like Maya, Lightwave, etc. the major packages, should have animation tutorials they could render out for you.Mr. Tunes wrote:thanks devon, you mean 3d Studio MAX right?

As for Zeotrope, I'm getting nowhere too. It was something I remembered from 3+ years back, and my memory is hazy about more details. Sorry.

I've made some Video clips. Heavly processed in Vegas, Trippy stuff. This is not 3d animation but it's also free to use if you have a way to compile clips.

You can also try www.cgtalk.com and see if some budding animator there needs a soundtrack for his demo video!

Sign up for the virtual studio. Should be able to hook up with animators that way.Mr. Tunes wrote:that's *the* zeotrope, home of francis ford coppola. they make big feature films, not indie animations? cool link though thanks

thanks so much devon i didnt figure that much out until now.
the site looks really interesting. they have this unique system for getting feedback on your work. it is nice that the kings of film making are putting an effort into discovering new talents.
