no, i'm not, and it also changes the tonality a bit.
Complex mode doesn't work right on drums alone, only complete mix, or highhats combo. Maybe cause its a straight kick drum...?

Yep, I never had any issues with drums in 'beats' mode.pHz wrote:just switch to 'beats' stretch mode then ???mindrise wrote:Complex mode doesn't work right on drums alone, only complete mix, or highhats combo. Maybe cause its a straight kick drum...?

I don't think 'complex' is a replacement for everything, but to be used in specific situations.

plus, its a new timestretch mode, and its been 6 days, the point of the beta is to find stuff like this, and give them time to fix it.
If you have a particlar mp3 that is not working with complex mode, post it to the beta forum, with an example, so they can track it and fix it for the final release that is weeks and weeks away

If it sounds good it is good.

Robert Henke already answered this on the beta forum...mindrise wrote:Live 5 beta 2 still has pops and weird artifacts when using complex warp on drums, why? I though they fixed this problem in beta 2. This will be one of those things they will fix in 5.1? ....
The initial timestretch issue was corrected in 5.0b2, but they discovered another one in the process, which will be sorted in 5.0b3

For Live 4 there were 14 betas prior to rrelease.braj wrote:And there are probaly at least 2 more beta to be tested.
Ableton hinted that 5.0b3 will remain with the inital 500 testers, but 5.0b4 will be totally public (in another wekk or so...depends on progress, obviously)

yes, engenious astar!braj wrote:Awesome!astar wrote:REGARDING DEVICE CHAINS (from way earlier on in this thread):
It is true that in Live 5 beta you can't save device chains that include VSTs but there is an easy work around: the new Live clip (.alc) format. All you have to do is create a dummy clip and drag that clip to the browser and it saves the clip along with all information about the clip, envelopes and the track it was on (including VST effects and instruments and the appropriate settings). Works just like a device chain only better! When you drag the clip back in later everything is restored (including vst parameters).
This new clip format is a HUGE upgrade... it means that basically any idea is now very easy to save and reload later for further tweaking...
Live 5 is seriously sweet.. you have to hear the new complex timestretch, it is mint as well as the saturator!

Yes, I know my drums should be in beat mode. But I want it in complex mode since the drums are of good quality and i still have artifacts on them from beat mode but not as bad as complex. Yeas i played with 1/4 1/8 etc... its just weird, I knew there was something wrong, so 5b03 should fix it i hope.

yep agree with you there Fax,that would make it one up for project 5 ,puts the ball back in the Abes court on the score of the device chaining paradigm dosent it?FaX wrote:headquest wrote:PS @ stale bread:
Group Devices can include both MIDI and audio effects (as well as Live's three instruments). Again I'm not sure whether/how that would be replicated with VSTs in the picture (some vsts would definitely complain, I'm sure!)
In Project 5 you can Group devices the Chan is MidiFx->Arp->Instrument->Effects (these can be saved as presets for recall later.
Now these can be a combination of any of the Above so you could just have MidiFX->Instrument or an Instrument->Fx chain etc ...
Also you aren't limited to the DXi's that come with P5 . Once you've scanned your VST directory with the DX warpper any VSTi/ DXi's or VST effects / Dx effects can be used.
You can even have multiple instrument layers with Keysplits / velocity layers and the like.
So i can't see how or why Live would limit this to just native effects - seems pretty short sighted of them IMHO.

headquest,
even in b3, when you actually record the frozen tracks into arrangement view, the frozen tracks go away.. is it like that on your end? Or are you saying we should just always consolidate and bring in the new files when we wanna actually record the tune.
Only reason I'm asking is cause you could get to a point where you have 240% of your cpu used in 10 frozen tracks, and after you tried to 'record' the arrangement Live might blow up because 240% would try and get used immediately after you hit stop.
