Hey everybody,

There's a sale going on now at CakeWalk that ends on the 19th, and I'd like to try the Sonar demo before buying it. The problem is that the demo page isn't working here. I was wondering if other people are seeing the same thing, and hoping someone from CakeWalk might see this and get it fixed. It's a problem that might cost them at least one sale right here. I tried calling them at 1-888-CAKEWALK but it was after closing time and I couldn't leave a message without an extension. I also sent them an email that they probably won't even see until after the sale is over.

Go to http://www.cakewalk.com/download/default.asp
Click the link for the Sonar 4.0.1 Windows demo.
That opens a page where they ask for your name and email address - fill those in.
That brings you to a page where you can do the downloads, but they don't work.

Same problem here :( though I've tried to download Project 5 v2 demo. There is something with their ftp.

It's a known issue by Cakewalk itself:

as they say, try CuteFTP, it works!

Thanks for the info Daradei, I appreciate it.
That tells me more than I heard from CakeWalk or got from this thread I started at CakeWalk's Sonar forum.
I finally was able to download the demo on Tueday the 21st, but by that time the sale was over. I've sent emails to the sales department to see if I can still get the sale price, but haven't heard anything back yet. If they won't give me the sale price, I won't buy it, just out of principle.

--Carl - not happy with CakeWalk and realizing CakeWalk doesn't give a hoot about that

I thought it was interesting that their online store is charging more for people to upgrade from 4S to 4P, than from 2, 2XL, or 3S. It didn't use to be that way.

Fortunately I bought when they had a special once before ... keep your eyes open, different specials come and go there.

That doesn't surprise me at all. Now if you said that Steinberg or Apple did this, I'd be REAL surprised

Have to say I agree Cakewalk are top dogs when it comes to customer support.

I used to be a Cubase user.
I have this post quite a while back.

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 64#1105764

I requested customer support, and they promised a reply within 48hrs.

Bearing in mind this was April 22nd and its now June 26th, ive got a reply yesterday saying that they no longer offer customer support.

Well I guessed as it was 3 months overdue that they were a waste of space anyway, so the reply just confirmed that they dont care about their customers.

Anyway they made up my mind when it came to upgrading to SX or SL, steer clear.

Instead I opted for Sonar 4 a few weeks back and havent looked back.
The only time I had to speak to their tech support I got an email back withing the hour.

ps I thoroughly recommmend the Sonar 4 Ignite and Sonar 4 Power books.
