The IYTTIW sample set released (MP3 demos added)

Hi everyone,

I'm pleased to announce the release of the IYTTIW sample set. IYTTIW stands for "If You Think This Is Weird". I am very fond of this set and it's great for keyboard players. It contains 41 multi-sampled programs. They are all short sounds, no pads here. It's very well-suited for keyboard runs and sequences. Perfect on its own or for doubling other sounds

I played and recorded some trumpet and made samples of the performance. Then I processed the samples to alter their timbral and spectral quality. In some of them you can still hear the trumpet and in others you could not guess their origin.

What really makes these sounds unique is the fact that even when they do sound synthesized, they retain the pitch modulations of the original trumpet performance which would be impossible to reproduce with a standard synthesizer.

It includes the following formats:
-wave files
-sfz
-soundfont
-DashSignature EVE
-Wusikstation and WE synths

It sells for $15.00 US and also includes 48 extra and exclusive percussion samples that are only available with this set.

The IYTTIW set will be followed by the WUYHT (Wait Until You Hear This) set that will go way beyond in weirdness.

As the extra percussions samples are not part of the downloadable demos, I made a loop using only the percussion samples.

Quite a few programs of this sample set sounds pretty good when playing Bach's keyboard music (among other things). Try it if you have such a MIDI file.

Sonar users can try the "2-Part Invention #13 in A minor.wrk" that is part of Sonar's content.

I think this is a great idea. I was a bit disappointed that there were no loops in the demo, and some of the ones with a pitch change would be tricky to use.

The big problem is though that most people either want something they are familiar with - an emulation of a HokeyKokey 2000 or of a Peruvian ear flute, or a bunch of knobs and dials where they think they can create just the sound they want (though they actually just use presets).

Most musicians talk about doing something new, but they really want to do something just the same.

Glad that you like the idea. There are no loops in the full set either. This is part of the artistic concept of this set, short sounds for (step-)sequencing, keyboard runs and stabbing chords. The second set will either have some loops, longer samples or both.

Could be but that makes it fun too. In the set there are still plenty of sounds (majority of them) where the pitch changes are not too drastic.

I know this is true for many musicians (and there's nothing wrong with that) but at Les Productions Zvon we definitely try to create really new and unique sounds for everyone willing to try new things or just add some spice to their existing palette.

Another new MP3 demo made with only 12 samples from the IYTTIW sample set in our own freeware Quad Zamp. A sequence of patterns with only 1 instance, 9 samples are randomized with the Quad Zamp pitch randomizers, and the 3 others are not.
