example (sorry about the MC but the only copy I have is a live recording)
I've heard it in a few tracks. Just wondering if this percussion is on any sample CD?

Sounds almost like some weird synth didgeridoo is mixed in with the fast drums...

as a fill there is an arping synth on every 4th measure, but I'm just asking for the percussion.Gregjazz wrote:Sounds almost like some weird synth didgeridoo is mixed in with the fast drums...
The kick is nothing special and the snare is replacable, but the "tikki-tikki" percussion between them is what I'm looking for here. I've heard the exact same thing in a few tracks and have always liked it.

I don't know the source of the samples, but if you're interested in the "tuned" sound, I do the following: Crop each hit with a short envelope, 0(or near as you can) attack/full sustain/0(ditto) decay, then use a parametric eq with a high Q to select the particular freq I want to boost. Re-record each hit with the eq frequency at different notes, then load 'em all in to a sampler chomatically. Tuned drums without the rediculous jump-up sound.
Or, to do it easier, use these two VST effects: Murmur or Metal Mickey to do it live. These are two of my most used plugs. And they're free!
Cheers,
Mike

tikki tikki? Just program some real short hits in the right rhythm. Use a variety effects on some snares (a lot of "hihats" I hear are actually short-clipped snares), lotsa fun.

I really dont have a problem recreating stuff like this, but the EXACT sampleset here has been used a few times.jackson wrote:tikki tikki? Just program some real short hits in the right rhythm. P.S. there are cowbells and cut-off tamborines in there as well
