While I can't really vouch for what is BEST as that's totally subjective, here's what I use, personally:
1.Delay = GRevDly
2.Reverb = Fruity Reverb (the one that comes with FL Studio)
3.Distortion = BitBasher
4.Compressor = Blockfish
5.Chorus = XOXOS' Choral
6.Flanger = Fruit Flanger (the one that comes with FL Studio)
7.Phaser = SupaPhaser
8.EQ = Fruity Parametric (yes, the one that comes with FL Studio... though for NON-VST EQ I use Cool Edit Pro 2's vast EQ system).

The best way I have found to keep from collecting to many active plugs is to remove ones you no longer use to a "not in use" folder.
As far as favorites, you will get so many different answers it will be hard to go through them all. And the reason for this is because there are so many great plugs to choose from.
But one shareware plug that is still in constant use, even though I have quite a few high priced plugs, is Luxonix LFX 1310. Excellent chorus, delay etc etc etc. I also use the distortion section quite often to smooth out over distorted or too crunchy guitar sounds. (I know, strange to use distortion to smooth distortion. But hey it works).
Anyway, good luck. And spend alot of time demoing plugs. Thats the best way to find the sounds you need.

Blue tubes have very nice GUI but their EQ's don't Equalize and the compressors don't compressInukshuk wrote:You should download these VST demos and see how good they are.

I've had great success with BlueTubes no problem at all. I just tweak em and get what I want easily. Note I've got a lot of other great plugs as well, and still use the B.T. as much as I can where it's good. But each his own. There is still no better way than to demo.CANE CREEK wrote:Blue tubes have very nice GUI but their EQ's don't Equalize and the compressors don't compressInukshuk wrote:You should download these VST demos and see how good they are.

My computer is cluttered with VST:s but I only need one good in each category. Could you give me your opinion about whitch is the best,
1.Delay
2.Reverb
3.Distortion
4.Compressor
5.Chorus
6.Flanger
7.Phaser
8.EQ
...commercial and free plugs?
Musicmaster
free: classic delay (various modes!)
commercial: sonitus delay (good interface!) and spin audio spindelay (true stereo!)
2 Reverb
free: ambience (with gate!), glaceverb (very special!) and classic reverb. convolution: SIR
commercial: sonitus reverb and spin audio Roomverb M1/M2 (advanced modeling). From demoing it: Arts Acoustic Reverb. convolution: Spristine Space (Light)
3 Distortion
free: don't know any really good ones.
commercial: iZotope Trash and CamelPhat
4 Compressor
free: Blockfish (very special sound!), Endorphin and the Buzzcomp Bundle (absolutely great!)
commercial: crunchessor and sonitus, for mastering: soniformer
5 Chorus
free: classic chorus
commercial: GMO (but I prefer the free classic one) and Voxengo Vointage Modulator
same choices for 6 and 7, maybe also FX-Designer from Spin audio.
8 EQ
free: do not know anything that is on equal level with the commercial stuff
commercial: CurveEQ (this one is outstanding feature-wise and sound-wise, nothing else compares) and all other EQs from Voxengo (I also consider Lampthruster to be an EQ with a nice vintage sound)
please note: all the free plugins mentioned are imo as good as the commercial stuff. maybe they have limited features but should also not be missed if you have good commercial plugins.

This is what I am currently using: all satisfactory
Delays: Kjaerhus Classic, Pristine Space (oddly enough)
Reverbs: Pristine Space, SpaceMaster (Reaktor), Glace Verb
Distortion: Vinyl, (Vintage Warmer)
Compressor: Soniformer, Kjaerhus Classic on tracks
Chorus: Kjaerhus Classic
Flanger: Blueline Flanger
Phaser: Nomad Phaser, Supaphaser, Kjaerhus Classic
EQ: HarmoniEQ, CurveEQ
These is what I think are the best I’ve heard so far: (and they will be mine!)
Delays: OhmBoyz, PSP Lexicon 42/84, Pristine Space
Reverbs: Pristine Space, SpaceMaster (Reaktor), PoCo verbs
Distortion: Predatohm
Compressor: Soniformer, Crunchessor, Kjaerhus Golden
Chorus: Lampthruster, PoCo Chorus
Flanger: haven’t heard a great one yet.
Phaser: Mobilohm, Nomad Phaser
EQ: HarmoniEQ, CurveEQ, Oxford EQ, GlissEQ
Lot’s of folks are very enamored with the UAD-1 collection, but I have yet to knowingly hear anything from it.

Why? Don't you know which ones you use and which one's you don't? I know exactly which I use, they aren't always the best, just the ones that suit me. The only VST effect I use regularly is PSP MixSaturator, mostly I use ORION's native effects.musicmaster wrote:Please somebody help!
