The two choruses are:
Kjaerhus GMO-1
UAD Boss CE-1

I recorded two small clean guitar takes.
I ran them in the same setup exactly except once I used Chorus-A and once I used Chorus-B.
I did not try to make the two choruses sound the same I just adjusted both until I heard something I liked.

So tell me, do you prefer Chorus-A or Chorus-B ?
UPDATE: Now we have Chorus-C as well to complicate things
Couldn't change the poll but comments are welcomed

Song-1 Guitar with bridge pickup.
Chorus-A
Chorus-B
Chorus-C

Song-2 Guitar with both bridge and neck pickup.
Chorus-A
Chorus-B
Chorus-C

I am especially interested in opinions of people who do not play guitar.

are you kidding me......

chorus A is thousand times nicer.... and though I don't own the UAD I guess it's the Boss model....

I'm aguitar player though...

Chorus B sounds plastic to my ears (other words could be - way to bright and brittle).... could be the settings though

B sounds more like a JazzAmp chorus than a pedal....

I voted A.

To me it sounds "fuller" (darker?) than B, and the chorus sort of "gels" better with the sound while B seems to lie more "on top" of the dry guitar, if that makes any sense.. :)

Could just be because there seems to be more modulation on B than A, though..

That being said they both sound pretty good.. If I had to make a guess I'd have to say that A is the CE-1 and B is the GMO-1. Which probably means that it is the other way around. :P

A has a fuller, more beautiful sound.

Have you tried Voxengo's AF Chorus? Lush.

I listened to all 4 clips and responded based on emotional impact without reading through other responses.

I voted can't decide - both sound good. However, my choice was clear for each song.

Song one sounded great with chorus A - Great gut impact. The chorus B sounded "tacked on" and more like a flanger in the context of that clip.

For song two, I preferred chorus B. Again, more evocative to me for what was being played - the flangy effect enhanced the drone strings in a way that chorus A did not.

I'm going back to read other responses now...

Can't decide: both good!

Chorus A sounds 'richer'.

Chorus B sounds a bit like a phaser at times. However, it reminds me of "the chorus of my youth", and thus tugs on the nostaligic strings for me. :D

Before reading anyone elses response, I chose chorus-A for both clips. It sounds 'thicker', where chorus-B is somewhat thin and trebly.

A sounds more like a chorus should, and is better as such, but I hate chorus, so I voted B, because I liked the wetter flanging sound. I'd guess B was the Kjaerhus, but can't be totally sure. Wondering if the delay time was a little too short on GMO?

I think the chorus A fits better for this kind of a guitar. I also think that the chorus A is the CE-1.

Could you provide those two original sound clips without chorus on them so people could do some comparisons with their own choruses? :)

Completely Dry
AllButChorus
NothingAfterChorus
Does not include chorus or anything afterwards in the FX chain.
You will need to add Chorus,Plate reverb, compressor, limiter and a little boost of EQ after 10KHz.

You may evaluate Voxengo Analogflux Chorus (applied to AllButChorus): http://www.voxengo.com/temp/AF_Chorus.mp3

BTW, your A chorus is obviously affected by a soft downwards high-shelf filter (plus saturation, of course). I'm not sure comparison is 'correct' here.

Hi,

good that you added the dry version, so I took the chance to compare your samples with the free Kjaerhus Classic Chorus which is imo not any worse than GMO. You can cherck it yourself:

www.power-xs.net/download/ClassicChorus.mp3

and the same thing plus a little Reverb (by Roomverb M1) since I had the impression that your samples also included some reverb in addition to the chorus fx:

cheers, AKJ

ps: I also liked the sample A much better but I am quite sure that it is GMO.
