guys - there is more than one plugin in the package.
there's the amplifier , there's a neato little phaser type plugin , there's the speaker cab modeller which used to be integrated within cortex and there's an expander/noise gate type plugin there, too.
a fantastic wee package - hours of fun

You forgot to load the speaker plug in. It's seperated from the preamp now.ermmm how do i access the speakers section!? all there is is the preamp and the settings on that.
What am i doing wrong?
I don't know. When was the drum-computer released? (When did I release the first version of Cortex?I thought the other Cortex came out AFTER you changed the name of guitifier to cortex.
No, that's too simple.CortexAmp
Cortez or Cortex The Killer
cool idea, but maybe I'd have to ask Neil Young.

Thanks for the update, Helium
However, there seems to be an incompatibility with the oldcab plugin and the cakewalk vst adapter: the adapter crashes when scanning the plug and reports the failure point as main call. It does work fine in Samplitude 8 though.

Wow! I don't know why I haven't checked this one earlier! This is a freaking FANTASTIC plugin! It's the first time some amp plugins actually reacts similar to a real amp.
I do have some questions though: In the manual of the cab plugin it says there's 4 speakers but only 3 volume controls. In Logic however I can see 4 volume controls.
Also, when I pull all of them down - which sound is it I'm listening to?
Would like to explain this a bit? I'd be very thankful.
Oh, and the cab plugin seems to add some latency. Is that just something we have to live with?
Others than that, this plugin set is kickass!

My drum sampler, Cortex, was released some time ago, but it's fine with me if you use the same name for your amp sim, as they are totaly different pluginsNope. So I have to think about a new nameyou do know there is already vsti called cortex ?

Oops, I forgot to update the manual there. In old versions speaker 1 had allways the maximum volume. It's the first time some amp plugins actually reacts similar to a real amp.

I know this is a bit complicated and my technical english isn't very good. Anyway I'll try:Also, when I pull all of them down - which sound is it I'm listening to?

At first: Speaker 1's volume can't be set to zero (all others can).
The main-volume is automatically set so that the output is equally loud whatever you set the volume of each speaker to.
The math behind is very simple:
mainvolume = 1 / (speaker1volume + speaker2volume + speaker3volume + speaker4volume)
I'll see if I can reduce it a bit but it already uses a lot of CPU.Oh, and the cab plugin seems to add some latency. Is that just something we have to live with?

I don't own this adapter, so it's hard to check. Anyway could you download it again and check if it works now? However, there seems to be an incompatibility with the oldcab plugin and the cakewalk vst adapter: the adapter crashes when scanning the plug and reports the failure point as main call. It does work fine in Samplitude 8 though.

Would be cool if the cab module could be switched into some low latency mode optionally.helium wrote: I'll see if I can reduce it a bit but it already uses a lot of CPU.

After 4 months of using CORTEX (I started this thread: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=76777 in February) I still believe that this is the best amp sim out there, free or commercial! Happy to see that Helium is still working on this... For distorted sounds it is THE thing. I can't get nice clean sounds though... Can anyone suggest a clean setting that has worked for him?
Thanks, Helium!

I normaly play with a lot of gain, so I havn't put as much work in the clean sounds.I can't get nice clean sounds though... Can anyone suggest a clean setting that has worked for him?

they are there nonetheless!helium wrote:I normaly play with a lot of gain, so I havn't put as much work in the clean sounds.I can't get nice clean sounds though... Can anyone suggest a clean setting that has worked for him?
gonna load up some presets later on!
here's a few hints which just come to my mind: if you think of (say) Vox or something similar you typically think of a combo with just one (12inch) speaker - thus the gain of speaker 2,3 and 4 needs to be set to zero... - after that you need to look for a speaker that suits you.
also tube needs to be set fairly high and gain rather low...
