Thanks Aleksey

Wanted to add something to the 'playing tone' things... I wonder why nobody mentioned that guitar should match the guitar amp...

:o that's very generous and all but I'm quite convinced you could really nail it with a bit more investigation into the subject and then release it as succesfull payware... :)

Post

aleksey - thank you very much for releasing this as freeware. No more audio dropouts :-)

I'm a happy bunny :D

Hey! Don't talk the man out of freeware! Some of us like generosity!

Thanks, Aleksey! Great plug-in!

Oh!
That's very nice of you, Aleksey.

As said, I still wish it'd react a bit more interactive to my playing, but I'm sure it'll find some use anyways.

Sascha, can you describe your vision of 'interactive'? What's that in terms of logic? Is it like amp reacting to your playing inertly, or reacting to some playing movements of playing in some way, or what?

Isn't it just a dynamic response to the input level? Strings hit harder make louder input, affecting the distortion and compression, as well as the EQ, I would imagine. But I'm just guessing.

Post

i think the dynamic response of a real valve amp comes partly from its interaction with the speaker. not sure how that could be done with static IRs..

IIR, why not? Cabinet impulse response output can be analyzed and taken into account as well. Of course, the impulse response have to be short for efficient calculation.

Anyway, finding some 'conceptual' (i.e. no pure mathematics - pure engineering) approaches is more fun.

I know the tranfo´s are very important in a valve amp. A friend made a few amps for me; all the same but with different tranfo´s. There´s a huge difference between them, and it is all about that PUNCH ! My best sounds like a Dr.Z (or a magic Vox AC30).

I'll try and post some example later on, Aleksey.

Transformers... In DSP realm they basically do phase-shifting I guess, or maybe more than that...

In which case (unless I misunderstand) its not static anymore.. ;)

Sounds interesting though! :D
