Oh shit I dont even know how I forgot portishead

the beginning of 'Roads' is soothing no matter how bad the doldrums are (wish there were no drums, though)

Wandering star, Only you, Mysterons, all good tunes.

I usually cheer myself up with some Leaether Strip. "Legacy of hate and lust" or "Positive depression" usually does it for me and I end up demolishing my room a bit... man what a relief :hihi:. I also love Portishead and I'm glad someone like them, too. Great band.

Cheers.

Depeche Mode's "Black Celebration" is my favorite 'lemons-into-lemonade' album. Love it.

This is one of my most "overplayed" albums. First the record then a CD. The record is all worn-out from playing it :hihi:. No wonder it's so good and dark, it was recorded in Berlin. One of the best from Depeche along with Music for the masses and Violator.

you guy actually let your mood be governed by your environment/playing recordings?

seriously.. not me.. but don't *you* think you're kind of pathetic???

if your dumb ass needs to be programmed to stop bumping into clearly visible solid objects, et c., may i suggest damon edges' chrome.

why?

because, as anyone will tell you, w/o helios, chrome went to shit, so you get 30 minutes of overtly sucky garbage instead of sucky garbage that wants you to think it's the queen.

but then again, civilised people do need to feel that sense of entitlement or they'd be uncomfortably out of place aww diddums

f**king civilised people with chocolate cakes on little doilies coming out they speakers, all perfect and 'ahh, here's my recording, i am now the master because i am the perfect receptor'

you can see the little 'betty crocker' spoon in the corner, dumbfucks ;)
you come and go, you come and go. amitabha neither a follower nor a leader be tagore "where roads are made i lose my way" where there is certainty, consideration is absent.

Ehem...so, anyway....During my ugliest period (about 4 years back or so) i stayed alive by listening to The Jesus Lizard (mostly "Shot", but also that first album recorded at CBGB's) and Joel R.L. Phelps and the Downer Trio's "Blackbird", which is so damn good it gets listened to no matter what mood I am in.

roads without drums?
would totally destroy it, portishead is all about the drums, the singer and some backgroundtextures (rhodes and stuff), in THAT order.
