So GOLD and Miroslav Philharmonik sound like they are made to go with each other.
Having more choices from a timbral aspect is always better. Thats why I passed on the PRO upgrade for Gold, as it offers more textures but not different timbres for the already existing instruments (Qlegato notwithstanding
I owned the original Miroslav Vitous library, bought back when I was still making money from my music. Now that I am 'just' a hobbyist, I can't justify even the $1500 half-price for Platinum to get all those close mic'd sections and solos.
I always liked the Vitous lushness though a lot of people complained about the little crescendi built-in to most samples and sections. I think it makes for what they call a "well-rounded tone" in conservatories. This is musical to my ears.
I hated AO for it's dead straight playing. The samples are so lifeless!
But some people just want a stagnant tone from the orchestral instruments. I would use a timbre like that maybe 10 times in my life.
Now people are saying they don't like GOLD because it has built-in ambience and release trails.
It all reminds me of the criticisms when the Vitous library came out. It was 'too' musical!
Now GOLD is 'too' ambient.
Remember, it's all about choices. So get Both!
