plus the fact that mindless(in your words hehe)ambient noodlings often have a lot more thought in them than any "ooh i love you" type pop shite which in my ears is the same words just jumbled up.

Thought put into them does not = thought derived from listening to them which explains why they are just burning up the pop charts. Inaccessable art is just that.
i beleive it has already been said,"you cant write a song thats never been sung".

Sure you can, but no one would understand it.

I could write a song in complete gibberish and sing it. If it were just for art's sake that would be enough but this months competition was not just about art but about relevance to todays music marketplace.

aside from this before you go sticking your size 9s in have you ever even considered the backgrund of a lot of these "mindless"(hehe) ambient noodlers?
no i dont think you have have you...

What Major Label today would sign something considered irrelevant to today's music marketplace?

dunno (dont necessarily care) ... but that WASNT the question ... where did the rules say entries had to be relevant to a contemporary market ???

There's more to being a popstar than being teenage wank fodder. Alicia Keys aint exactly that.. nor is Missy Elliot, Sheryl Crow...etc

They didnt. If you look at some of those I voted for I voted for them (as I will explain later) because in a different time they could have been signed to a major. Many entries might have done well in the 80s. Also geography need not be limited to the US or UK. There is stuff signed to majors for distribution in certain countries that we never hear on the radio here so i took that into consideration too..

I am not tunnel visioned.

Hehe... well i've been told in the same breath by people slagging me off here that I have talent but 'the wrong attitude'

perhaps for kvr but the attitude of win at all costs is exactly the one bred into you in the current music industry and my entry and conduct here over the past month was basically one hell of a show of what i like to call Divaextreme.

I hope you enjoyed the show. It got tiring towards the end.

Judging from the Ciara incident my time has arrived and I am in the right place (America) and i have a hot producer who did work for Faithless, Sugarbabes, Nsync and other producing my pop album in L.A.

At the beginning of the 80s conservatives were in charge, the cold war was on, music was 'safe' everyone new their place and then BOOM....MTV

Michael Jackson
Chaka Khan
Prince
Madonna
Boy George

we are in the mid 80s again. a new network is about to be launched and the country may go boom again.

that said, i've been told by people in the industry that i have 'it' it's why i got 'jumped into' SAG and have been fastracked on the acting tip. it's why i can walk into A&R depts when others are stopped at security...etc its all who you know and who you are and how relevant you are to the time

i am about to become very relevant whether anyone here likes it or not.
