Sanity prevents me from suggesting a "Drama Queen" theme.

vurt, I'm jealous. On the Charlie Rose show, they showed him conducting 'Good Vibrations' while singing. I swear he looked like a 6 year old kid with the way he was waving his arms. But hey, the guy is a genius. I'm convinced of that.vurt wrote:i caught him live on stage on monday night
And again, I didn't even like the music of 'Smile' but the grandeur of it is impressive to me.

No-one said anything to my offer, but I have tallied all the votes so far, with all points given included. I can post it any time here, and a moderator can use it to make the 'official' results thread if it's going to be used.Markleford wrote:Administrative Hoo-Haw
In an attempt to get things back on track, I need to bring up some matters:
1) Someone needs to close the voting thread at the appointed time today. Griels, do you have this under control? Since you started it, seems the thing to do.
2) Do we have an official point-counter for this month yet? I'm not sure how serious the few volunteers were earlier: speak up again if you're willing. If none of you spread-sheet wizards out there volunteers, I will take over this task. The only requirement is that you provide a "worksheet" with the point tallies visible so that interested (or susicious/paranoid/Lady J) parties can check your work. Look at the last few month's result threads for an example.

I have to admit the "Fun for a Change" theme doesn't grab me much - could turn into too much of a free-for-all, as you have indicated, Markleford.
Here are a few other suggestions that I throw into the pot for discussion/consideration....
- The letter "M" - the track must revolve around something starting with the letter "M" could be an instrument (Mandolin, anyone), or an atmosphere (anyone feeling Mellow, or Moody?), or the song title could start with "M". Hell, if this theme works out OK, there are another 25 possibilities to follow
- My Home Town - a track that captures the spirit of your home town, wherever that is - best entries would describe how it achieves this in the submission thread.
- Hate - write a track that encapsulates the emotion of hatred (shouldn't be hard after this month
)
- Love - along similar lines, why not a track that captures tender feelings of love (suggest another emotion as a theme if you think another would be better)
- As July contains both American Independence Day and Bastille Day, why not have a "Write a New National Anthem" theme - either for your own country, another, or a fictional country of your own making
- Or picking up on the Beach Boys theme, and as it is summer on your side of the globe, how about a "Beach Music" theme.
Or suggest another if you don't like any of these.....

I think it's fine and no one else seems to have done anything so far

I'll wait 'till the voting deadline is over. It's been interesting to keep track - the top 5 or so (except #1) are shifting position on almost every recent vote.xander wrote: Khepira == Go ahead mate

How about winner gets to choose?
Failing that I like the direction Mr Iblast is taking. Tho' I think the beach- weather-spring -summer thing was kinda covered in the spring comp.
So I vote for a tune about a national anthem for your home town in F sharp Major at 120bpm based around the letter M (in beach boy style harmony).

How about making it simple like everyone write a tune using a modal vamp in Dorian mode. Could be useful exercise in the very least.

The winner already gets a prize. How about the one with the lowest score chooses, or maybe the one with the lowest score that actually got a vote if there's multiple zero vote entries?Techbot wrote:How about winner gets to choose?
The last shall come first, and all that.

As Interim Reichminister of Contests, I dub thee Official Interim Tallymaster.
Keep the results under wraps for now. We'll close the voting thread later at the appropriate time (if I can figure it out: -6 hours for me, being US-EDT?), and then you can PM the results to me (if Griels doesn't speak up) when you're done.
Thanks very much for volunteering, and sorry that nobody gave you the official nod when you did! Administrative discombobulation and all that, eh?
