As long as the edits are not long, and are posted for purposes of criticism, there is no problem with copyright laws. Copyright allows excerpts to be reproduced so long as they are short and for the purpose of criticism.

IOW, if you're going to post someone else's stuff, be sure to comment on what you like or don't like about the sound.

IIRC you're a guitar player t-willy. So go and post something. It doesn't have to be the ultimate sound. Just choose the best ampsim (in your opinion) you have available, tweak a sound and hit record. At least that's what I did
I think I post some metal tomorrow. Seems more popular than I thought ...

Good sounds Guys.

This is usefull if only from the standpoint of making us work at getting the best sound we can our of out setups. I have been trying to beef up my clean tone over the last few weeks since I am still really unhappy with what I can get solely via the V-Amp2. I am messing with miking my Pignose in combinations with the VAMP. I will try to post something this weekend. So far I have overcome amajor hurdle which was noise and interference.

Cheers,
Gordon

Hi Beardedone. Nice to hear from you. I 'd be interrested to hear what clean sound (or crunch) one can get from VAMP. How it compares with what I posted?
Note that I used the "clean" chanel of a well known ampsim (more about it later if anyone's interrested) with almost full drive and I turned down the guitar volume occasionally to achieve a more clean sound.

Hey Man!

I am trying to get a classic Jazz tone from my Ibanez AS80 semiacoustic. I have been frustrated in acheiving a round, warm tone. My amp is a Pignose crossmix 150, a 1980s solid state and not the best for this purpose but c'est la vie. I want very little or no crunch and as little distortion or dirt as possible. My ideal tone is a cross between Jim Hall and Wes Montgomery like Pat Metheny got on Minuando (Six eight) off of Still Life Talking. though I realize that is not really achiveable with my Ibanez but heavy gauge strings have made adifference. I find it is the dynamics that suffer when I use the VAMP alone. As Sascha has pointed out elsewhere, the VAMP is bass heavy so I am working on the settings on my pignose amp and microphone placement - slight changes can make a great deal of difference so I am trying to be scientific about my mthods. I am getting closer with a Behringer B2 condensor placed 5 inches and off-axis and isolating the amp more from the room with guitar feeding into the VAMP2 through the tube preamp setting - left output straight into my Aardvark DP24/96 -right into the clean Pignose channel - Channel one is too dirty after so many years.

I will try to post any decent results I get.

Cheers,
Gordon

The AS80 is the "George Benson" style? Ooops , don't mind I googled it. It's like the old Artist but semi -hollow right? Nice one.
About the tone, I see what you're aiming for. I love the tone of Wes

still JCM900 clean chanel and Strat type guitar single coils (Levinson Blade R1). Not exactly jazz but a bit jazzy, don't you think...

Hey Zeoy!

Nice! You can play. Let's jam over Autumn Leaves some time OK! You gotta know that tune!

A lot of tone is in the players hands- attack and fingering more than the guitar. Listen to Stern with his old 50's Broadcaster - blows me away evey time I see him live.

This is a fun exploration - I am actually stoked to get somewhere with my setup.

Cheers,
Gordon

Nice! Reminds me of Stanley Jordan' tone..

Here's me.. I'm a bit rusty I'm afraid. :(

Starts with my favorite nearly-clean sound, then I push my right pedal forward to bring in a bit more pre-amp gain and some compression. Then a few crunchy power chords, followed by a distorted lead sounding very bare and dry without its usual delay & verb (don't ask me why I played that, never have before.. :? ). Then I finish up with a couple of my trademark 'abstract' sounds..

Gear list:

Gibson Les Paul Custom plus
Digitech 'Valve FX' pre-amp / FX unit
Mesa 20/20 power amp
home-made speaker cab with mahogany front baffle, one Greenback & one modern Celestion (the other Greenback needs a re-cone)
ART X-15 MIDI foot controller

SE Electronics Z5600A Valve mic (set to cardiod, ponting at Greenback, and panned hard left)

Beyer M88 dynamic mic (aimed at other speaker & panned hard right)

Mics were positioned about 18" from the cones, using my Mackie 1402VLZpro pre-amps. (I just dropped the mics in about their usual place).

No plug-ins used at all: the only effects are on the Digitech unit..

haha, sorry, my head starts to spin around in circles in these guitar threads.

thats been my ampsim of choice as well, but it sounds really good with your guitar setup... for me it gets totally swamped with low end.. probably my guitar though...(Jackson - Kelly) so I have to use either the SD1 or tube screamer before it to clean up the excess lows.
