I agree - something like the excellent bandpass filter in Camelphat, as a standalone with low CPU. THat would be a nice-to-have :D
I love that Camel bandpass, just found BugPass which does the same thing. (Sorry no link as at work and t'internet too slow!)

For me, GlissEQ, GEQ7 and Nyquist are my bread and jam. ;)

Another vote for WaveArts TrackPlug here. I got it with educational discount for $75 and it has been a great investment. I can easily run 32 instances in my old P4 1.4 Ghz, so the CPU savings and transparent sound are worth the price.

trackplug... mmmh so you just run that instead of any other comp/eq plugins?

Yep!

Cubase,s track eq for crappy stuff like bass roll off and filler instruments.
Cambridge eq from uaudio for important mix elements
Pultec for character

People, I have to say something, please pay a little attention.

I said earlier that I really like the Sonalksis Eq and this was true until today.
I don't know how UAD or PoCo eq-s sound and I have very little experience with hardware eq units but:
I demoed today the URS eq-s..... MAN, they are AWESOME!!! I just could'nt believe my ears! This plugins made my Sonalksis eq sound so thin and little; it was shocking! I have to mention I know the sound of HydraTone, a different approach to analog sounding eq-s, but, as I said, having little experience in how exactly an analog eq sound like, these eq-s had a huge impact on me and chenged forever the way I'm looking (listening) to an eq!
I especially liked the A series Eq and the Fulltec Eq and for more basic tasks the Mix Eq. A series Eq has a lot of character, a very "in your face" sound while the Fulltec was very warm and musical. The Mix Eq was a solid track eq and I really think with these three you can do anything.
God, I hope I'll buy them soon (at least the A series and the Fulltec).
I know it's dificult to even demo them because of the shitty pace protection but if you have the possibility give them a try. For me was one of the most enlightening experience in this field.
Starting from today these are my favourite eq-s!
Cheers. :)

true but if its de accumalation of fx returns or making certain sounds more lo fi so they fit in the mix better i find the cubase eq does the job just fine.

However if i had 3 more uad,s... 8)

OK, you know what you want better than me. I personally don't like Cubase's eq. It sounds really cheap.

EAS Equium! Hands down.

You,re right it does sound cheap; when boosting especially,it adds a phasey sort of effect thats not very pleasant. Not very musical or good for serious tonal shaping but in my opinion it is adequate for shelving and low mid cuts where these artefacts are not so obvious.
Its not cpu intensive so comes in handy large mixes require lots of bass roll off .
