is there a way to add feedback to an audio file with out a delay effect to get a repeat rate that i can adjust? is there a vst that can do this? one more thing is there a vst that has the modulation section of a delay? help if you can

Not sure what you mean with the first one; if you're not adjusting the feedback of a delay repetition, what are you adjusting the feedback of?

As for the second, I'm sure there are many. This one looks formidable:

What type of feedback are you looking for? Endless sustained guitar notes like Carlos Santana? Feedback is based on repetition of old material, so it is delayed by definition. Maybe you can do some smoothing & smearing by running it through a reverb first.

Traditional "delay" delays do not have a modulation section. What do you expect of a modulation cut lose from the delay? Btw it's called an LFO: Low Freqency Oscillator, and there are some around that generate modulated midi CC's.

im looking to make a vocal repeat it self with zero delay.Feedback repetition with out the delay! can this be done

Time stretching? Granular synthesis? It all comes down to repeating the same bit... Maybe get a good sampler VSTi and edit loop points.

do you mean like you loaded the vocal into a wav editor, set it to loop and pressed play? Like a CD skipping type thing ?

if so try my plugin phutboyslim.

on the other point - can you be more clear about what you define as the modulation section of a delay?

ok rate, depth and shape rate controls how quickly the delay times changed. depth controls how much the delay is modulated. shape describes how the device moves from one delay setting to the next. let me open up on what im doing i have some tape impulses loaded in RevolVerb using energyXT RevolVerb is set to 100 percent wet using the predelay to set the delay time! i loaded a mixer in energyXT and added a new channel so now i have 2 channels one for wet and one for dry. nice tape delay the only prob is trying to make the delay repeat more then once. how can i get this done

The only way to do that is with a delayed feedback loop.

were do i get one of those

You'll want to feed the output of Revolverb back into the input. In between the feedback loop, you'll want to put in a simple delay effect. Put settings to 100% wet, zero feedback, adjust rate. Withouth a delay in the middle, you'll just get screamy feedback noise.

In eXT, you can't do feedback loops. ModulR says that Senderella will do as a workaround, but I just get screaming noise and crashes when I try. You might have better luck. You can do it pretty easily in Audiomulch.

Here's what your schematic in eXT would look like:

Code: Select all

Sound
  | Senderella (receive)
  | |
  | Delay
  |\ |
  | | |
  | Revolverb
  | |
  | Senderella (send)
  | |
  Mixer
    |
    |
Audio out

shamann can you explain how to do this in Audiomulch

I'm not shamann but I do use AudioMulch.
If I understand your question correctly, you'd have tou feed the signal into SDelay, route this to a SGain contraption (for control, and it has a mute now, too) and feed it from SGain back into the delay. Send the signal from the delay to SoundOut and you're done.
