Virtial Midi Driver through USB

I'm looking for something that I don't know exists.

All these software hosts can link up through external Midi Sync's, so I'd like to be able to Sync 2 computer hosts this way. Ex 2 versions of Ableton or 2 versions of Cubase.

However Midi is a pain in the but. lots of people don't have spare midi ports to connect to (or at all) or we just don't have the proper cables. But there's no reason that there can't be a virtual Midi Device that runs through USB cables.

It would just take a driver and a USB cable.

Does anyone know if this exists?
