OMFG!!!

Post

Care to elaborate?

Post

You have just now discovered Philip Glass? Have you been living under a rock?

Post

If you've only just discovered him, please immediately upgrade to Steve Reich.

Although "Einstein on the beach" is not bad. It's just that everything else he writes is a bad remix of it.

I've only heard aphex twin's remix of "heroes" before which is THE SHITE. Just got my hands on his other stuff.

Yes "Einstein on the beach" is cool. Also, there was a choir piece I heard a long time ago called "water music" or something, that I really enjoyed.

Post

His collaboration with Ravi Shankar was excellent too, called "Passages".

yeah it's great. but then when i started getting into soundtrack composition i found myself immitating his style of those cute running motifs all the time. they are brilliant films

is baraka in any way related to those productions? i know he didnt do any music for that film.

"1000 Airplanes On The Roof" featuring... Linda Ronstadt . Nice !!

I must say I don't fancy Steve Reich too much. What about turning to Europe and listening to Wim Mertens?
Eventually something intelligent will appear written here. Watch this space.

Yes, upgrade product immediately!
Sometimes it's not clear when you listen at the shop that Glass has no sense of melody/harmony and actually fell asleep on top of an arpeggiator about 15 years ago. If you point this out to the manfacturer you may be liable for a refund :D :D
Steve Reich on the other hand

Oh it's not that bad.
Most of Civil warS it pretty good, there are some gems on North Star and I really like the score for Mishima (which happens to be the last good thing he did[1]). After that, he really really forgot what he was doing and started to believe al the hype.

Steve Reich has been doing great stuff for years and is actually still moving forward[2].

Groet, Erik

[1] OK, there's some nice bits on 1000 Airplanes.
[2] even though it's at a pretty slow pace.
Pop music delenda est.
