Something that puzzles me:

What is the relationship between Main Volume and Velocity?

If I have main volume at 100 does that mean all of my notes have only got 27 increments of dynamic range or is it that I still have 0-127 notches of expression but the main volume pulls up the overall volume ?

I can't seem to work this out. I must be missing the point somewhere :help:

Thanks
Paulie

Note velocity always goes from 0 (key barely touched) to 127 (touched by earthquake) Main volume is basically not really related to that, other than it can lower the main volume, like any normal fader.

You can change the patches so e.g. velocity only affects the filter and not volume. Maybe that's the point you've missed.

Think of your "Main Volume" as the ceiling in a room. Think of "Velocity" as a rubber ball. If you were to bounce the ball hard enough and the ceiling is 9 feet high, the ball would only be able to bounce 9 feet high. If you were to lower the ceiling to 7 feet the ball would only be able to bounce to 7 feet! When you lower your main volume, you are lowering your headroom. The velocity works it's full range, but only within that headroom.
